The Bulls travel to the Crown Ground on Saturday for their penultimate away match in League Two this season.
The two sides hadn't met in league action until Stanley's promotion to the Conference in 2003. Since then the two teams were only seperated last season with the Bulls in League One. The Bulls have won three of the five Football League encounters so far including the last two. Both games ended 2-0 firstly at the Crown Ground in March 2008, then at Edgar Street last September. In that game debutant Craig King scored in six minutes, and Ryan Valentine scored his first in a Bulls shirt to give the Bulls their first home League win of the season.
Accrington had been somewhat over achieving until the last few weeks. They were brief challengers for the play-offs after their financial scare boosted attendances and morale, but recent results have seen them slump back into mid-table. Their solitary point in the last seven games has come from a goalless draw with Darlington. They remain dangerous up front, with striking pair Michael Symes and Bobby Grant bagging 36 goals between them in all competitions this season. Their futures are up in the air with both out of contract in the summer, with boss John Coleman hinting that the uncertainly is affecting his side.
For the Bulls the uncertainty continues, and seems to be a regular feature at this time of year. Marc Pugh's 11 goals in 36 League games from the wing would suggest he would be worthy of a new deal, but Graham Turner continues to deploy his poker face when it comes to contracts and it seems to be set for another long summer of watching and waiting for Bulls fans.
