The Conference are to expel Salisbury after they fell foul of Administration rules.
Conference rules state that all creditors must be paid in full by the second Saturday in May, regardless of whether a CVA for a lesser amount has been agreed or not. Their demotion from the Conference will mean Forest Green will earn a reprieve.
However it is unlikely to end there. The actual decision will be confirmed at the Conference AGM in three weeks with both Salisbury and Northwich, who are in a similar position in Conf North, considering their legal positions. The Vics have already said they will appeal to the FA and take the matter to arbitration if they are not sucessful.
The harsh punishment is along the lines of that called for by some Football League chairmen. Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn told the press last week he wanted all sides entering Administration to be automatically demoted two divisions.
Meanwhile Grays have been told they will be put in the Essex Senior League, five divisions below the Conference, after they resigned their membership.
