Northampton have withdrawn the contract offer to striker Adebayo Akinfenwa after the player asked for more time to consider his options. He is understood to be in talks with a League One side. Macclesfield have resigned Richard Butcher following his release from Lincoln. He had a two month loan spell at the club this season, and has agreed a two year deal.

Lincoln have announced that they have agreed a two year deal with Torquay winger Mustafa Carayol, and they are now negotiating a fee for the out of contract 20 year old. Further to yesterday's news, Torquay have confirmed that they will be paying Colin Lee until next May after he signed a contract extension last October. In the last published accounts he was paid £100,000 including a promotion bonus. A strongly worded LMA statement claims Lee had nothing to do with the losses at the club.

Port Vale striker Marc Richards has signed a new two year contract at the club after shunning a number of League One and SPL sides. Lincoln are expected to beat Bury to the signature of ex-Port Vale keeper Joe Anyon. Histon have confirmed that Alan Lewer has left the club after he refused to apply for the job he held.

Gillingham managerial target Andy Hessenthaler has quit Dover after talks with their chairman. He is expected to be installed at the Priestfield in the next few days. Southend are the latest side to ditch their reserve team, pulling out of the Combination league they came bottom of last term. They deny the move is for financial reasons. Lincoln have released striker Lennel John-Lewis by mutual consent after agreeing a termination to his contract.
