Play Offs Wide Open Say Bookies

The play-offs are wide open with no clear favourite according to bookmakers.

Morecambe and Rotherham are best-priced 11/4 favourites, with Dagenham and Aldershot 3/1. All four are favourites with one bookie or another, with Stan James quoting all of them at the same price. A single point seperated the four teams after 46 League matches.

At the start of the season, the bookies expected mixed success for the sides. Rotherham were expected to finish 2nd, Dagenham 13th, Morecambe 17th, and Aldershot 21st, and they failed to get either of the bottom two right with Grimsby and Darlington both expected to finish in lower mid-table positions.

For three of the four, participation in the play-offs is the latest pinnacle in their rise from part-time status. When Graham Turner was appointed as Bulls manager Aldershot, Morecambe, and Dagenham were part-time sides outside the Conference - and only Morecambe had been in existence for more than a couple of seasons in their current form.
