Barely a day after assuring people he would not quit the club, Gillingham have parted company with boss Mark Stimson.
The former Stevenage boss arrived at the club in November 2007 but they were relegated from League One the following May. He won the play-offs last season, but saw his side relegated a second time on Saturday as they crashed to a 3-0 loss to already relegated Wycombe.
The Gills are not the only side expected to enter League Two with a new manager next season. Stockport are expected to dispense with the services of Gary Ablett once the 2015 Consortium takes control of the club, with former manager Jim Gannon tipped to return, while doubts also remain over the future of Southend boss Steve Tilson with MK Dons rumoured to be interested in his services.
UPDATE: MK Dons have named former Paul Ince assistant boss Karl Robinson as their new boss.
