Guinan Goes Gump

Former Bull Steve Guinan has signed for Forest Green on loan until January.

With current club Northampton signing Ryan Jarvis until January, transfer listed Guinan has been allowed to go to Gloucestershire's top side until the New Year with the Cobblers saying the move will be made permanent in January.

Guinan says he's gone back to the Conference to play regularly, while FGR boss Dave Hockaday says the signing proves his new chairman is prepared to back the club's bid to survive: “To have secured someone with Steve’s outstanding record in the game is a great boost to the whole squad, let alone me. I hope the supporters now realise that we mean business."

The move means that, almost certainly, Guinan's hopes of landing the Bulls managerial job have evaporated. He was interviewed shortly after Jamie Pitman was appointed as caretaker boss, and was expected by many to be an imminent arrival at Edgar Street at least as a player/coach.

Meanwhile another former Bulls striker is also on the move. Mark Beesley has joined Altrincham on loan from Fleetwood until January. The 29 year old hasn't featured for the big spending Conf side since being farmed out on loan to York at the start of October.
