Tilson Expected To Concede Goals

Lincoln boss Steve Tilson admitted in his post-match interview with the BBC that his defence was never up to the job:

"We had enough chances to win and if you score three goals at home you should win the match. We've conceded four goals too many, but if you look at the back four we had to put out today we were probably going to have to score four or five to win.

"I couldn't fault the lads for effort and commitment, they've given everything but we've conceded too many poor goals today. I'm disappointed because I thought we had a fantastic chance of going through, especially the way the game was panning out but you can't concede four goals at home and look to get through."

Meanwhile BBC Lincolnshire match summariser Steve Thompson, the former Lincoln and Notts County manager, slated the Bulls back line and defence during their commentary today.

Whilst he described both sides' outfield players as '20 men who hadn't met before' and gave both defences plenty of stick he reserved his more specific outbursts for Bulls keeper Adam Bartlett and his back three. He questioned the stats that Bartlett was 6ft throughout the game saying 'Their goalkeeper is a midget and the three centre halves can't defend', adding later that Bartlett would only be 6ft 'in long studs, high heels, and stilts'.

Thompson, who is a full inch taller than Bartlett, took Cambridge out of the League in 2005 and was sacked soon afterwards.
