Stam is a Massive Influence - Bartlett

Another clean sheet for Hereford United this afternoon and keeper Adam Bartlett praised the players in front of him for their good work and especially noted the contribution of Stefan Stam.

"Some of the blocks Stefan Stam made today, Michael Townsend and even Janos Kovacs coming on for the last few minutes won two crucial headers in the air from corners," Bartlett told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"That's what you need, a group of lads really united and hopefully another three points will get us over the line.

"I think we are a bit of a confidence side. If we conceed early, sometimes we are not able to get back into the game. Maybe a few heads go down.

"Once we get over the first fifteen minutes, especially at a place like Rotherham where it's difficult with them up the top end of the table, confidence grows."

Bartlett was asked about the pitch.

Sand can be seen in places

"It was very bad especially through the middle. It was really sandy and cutting up.

"They sprinkled it before the game and by the time we got on it was bone dry."

Bartlett said that the arrival of Stefan Stam had been a massive influence.

"He's got a lot of experience in the game both in Holland and in the league playing for Yeovil.

"He talks to the lads across the back, he talks to me and he has high expectations. If you're not doing something right he lets you know.

"Maybe that's something we've been lacking."
