Sanchez Looks To Relegate Imps Again

Barnet's Football Consultant Lawrie Sanchez will be looking to relegate Lincoln City for a second time on Saturday.

The former Northern Ireland manager was boss of Wycombe when the Chairboys had to go to Sincil Bank on the final day of the 1998/9 season needing a win to stay up - and send the Imps down instead from League One. With over 2,500 Chairboys travelling on subsidised coaches, Sanchez's men won the game with a goal in the 83rd minute to send the Imps down.

Sanchez needs to see his side beat Port Vale at Underhill to stand any chance of staying up, but will be looking for his former team mate Dean Holdsworth to help him along the way. The Aldershot boss spent two seasons with Sanchez at Wimbledon, and will take his Shots side to Sincil Bank on Saturday knowing that avoiding defeat will allow Barnet to overtake the Imps.

While for the Bees it would be a third drop into the Conference, it would be Lincoln's second - but the fifth time they had been relegated from the Football League. They lost their League status three times in the early 20th Century, with their 1987 drop to the Conference becoming a record-breaking fourth relegation out of the FL.

The Imps have announced this morning that they will be cutting admission prices for their match. Barnet remain 1/4 favourites for relegation, with the Imps 10/3.
