Around 1,000 Port Vale fans marched behind a coffin on Saturday in protest at the club's board. Organisers had been hoping for 500. The club's board say they could not accept the joint bid from Mo Chaudry and Mark Sims as it breached the club's ownership rules. Southend coach Graham Coughlan has confirmed the club has already told the players which of them will not be offered a new deal.

Stockport's board are to meet on Monday to discuss the manager's job. Ray Mathias has told them he wants to continue in the post he has held temporarily. His last full-time managerial role was with Tranmere in 2003. The reformed Chester FC side have started their climb back up the pyramid after winning the Northern Premier League Division One North title at the weekend on goal difference. They will need two more promotions to return to the Conference.

Ex-Bull Keith Lowe has been named Cheltenham's Player of the Year. Bradford have reported that they have paid April's wages late. Bantams chief Mark Lawn told the local press the club's cashflow is tight and he has warned the players. Conf South side Eastleigh are to go full-time in a bid to gain promotion to the Conference.
