The figures point out the financial problems with having to play some home matches during the week. Gates dropped from 2536 to 1856. Part of the drop can be explained by less away support in the week down from 346 to just 99, however home support dropped from 2190 to 1856.

Whilst traditionally mid-week matches have been played on Tuesday evenings at Edgar Street, it may be worth considering a Wednesday evening, at least as an experiment, when there isn't always quite as much live TV coverage of games.

One other point, it is difficult to be certain of the effect of price cutting, kids for a quid for example, on the figures. However it's probably safe to say that the gates would have been lower, perhaps by an average of 100, without these promotions.
