News Round-Up

Port Vale have transfer listed midfielder Gary Roberts after his suspension by the club for serious breaches of the club's disciplinary rules. His two week suspension expires on Monday but he is not expected to play for the first team for some time, if at all. The Valiants have also announced that former Bulls loanee Lee Collins is to undergo a groin operation and will miss another five weeks. The former Wolves man has already gone under the knife this season for a hernia problem.

Gillingham have signed full back Joe Carter on a deal until the end of the season. The 19 year old was released by Charlton in the summer after ten years at the club. Bradford have resurrected their bid to sign Charlton striker Paul Benson on loan. Club officials are reported to have met yesterday to seal a deal on a three month loan.

A trio of former Plymouth directors are claimed to be ready to make a bid for the club. The trio were guarantors on a mortgage given to the club, and the lender will chase them for payment estimated at £450,000 each if they get short-changed when the club is sold.
