News Round-Up

Speaking to FC Business magazine, Oldham chairman Simon Corney says he will now longer offer anything longer than a one year contract to any player over the age of 24. Weymouth say they are considering a return to full time football despite being a Southern League side attracting gates of less than 500.

Bradford have sold 15 year old midfielder George Green to Everton for an initial £300,000. The youngster has been touted as 'the new Rooney' with the fee capable of rising past £2million if a string of clauses are activated. Former Plymouth director Paul Stapleton has denied reports that he is part of a late bid for the club. He was claimed to be one of three directors planning a bid to stop them being chased for payment on a mortgage.

Macclesfield say they are planning more Friday night matches after last Friday's game with Swindon drew a higher home gate than they had been getting. Plymouth have extended the loan of Ipswich youngster Jamie Griffiths (not that one) for a second month. The midfielder had started two games, and come on as sub in three more, during his first month.

No Bulls in the Team of the Week. Oxford full back Damien Batt is nominated for his performance against the Bulls, while former Bulls keeper Jose Veiga is named after keeping a clean sheet against Swindon. Macclesfield, Crawley, and Torquay each have two players nominated. Accrington have signed Wolves striker James Spray on a months loan. The 18 year old made his first team debut in the Carling Cup last month.

Dagenham have extended the loan of West Ham youngster Oliver Lee for a third and final month. The 20 year old has started 11 games for the club so far.
