Hereford United have signed Ben Purkiss until the end of the season. He has recently been on trial with the Bulls.
27 year old Purkiss is a right-back.
He was released from his contact at Oxford earlier today.
At the start of this season he went on loan to Darlington but returned to Oxford in November.
6ft 2in Purkiss started his career as a trainee with hometown club Sheffield United in 2003. Following his release from the Blades, Ben returned to football on a part-time basis with non-league Gainsborough Trinity, choosing not to stay in the professional game in order to obtain a Law degree. Following the completion of his studies he moved to Blue Square Premier side York City in 2007 where he made more than 100 first team appearances, the last of which came against Oxford at Wembley in May 2010. Ben joined Oxford from York just five days later on a free transfer.
