Hereford Deserved a Point - Crewe Manager

Crewe manager Steve Davis spoke to the media after this afternoon's game at Hereford.

"It was a tough game and we expected that. I thought we were carrying a few today and were not at the races at all in the first half but I thought we were better in the second half and finished strongly.

"I thought Hereford played well and probably deserved something from the game, so we were a bit fortunate to get all three points.

"They had a lot of big powerful lads and caused us some problems but we stood up to them well and making those blocks and getting their heads on things earns them those clean-sheets.

"When we defend well we know we have players with flair and skill who can score a goal and that is what happened today. That was the difference. Murph had a bit of luck with the deflection to take it in but he took it well and dinked it over the defender. It was probably our best bit of play all afternoon.

"We rode our luck at times, held in there and came through a tough test. We will keep in there and do the best we can."
