Macclesfield have appointed former boss Brian Horton as their new manager until the end of the season.
The veteran manager, most recently Phil Brown's no.2 at Hull and Preston, previously took charge under similar circumstances in April 2004, saving the club from the drop. After building a promotion challenging squad the following season, the club was gripped by financial problems and he spent the following seasons struggling against relegation before leaving in October 2006 with the club rock bottom.
Existing assistant boss Glyn Chamberlain will act as Horton's no.2.
