Memories from Underhill

Underhill is a ground that, over the years, Hereford United have visited on many occasions both at League and Conference levels.

Here's a look back at the four recent visits starting with last season.

Oct 2nd 2010: Barnet 2 Hereford United 0

This was as close to shambolic as it’s been for many years Mr Davey. For the umpteenth time this season, a side barely over Pub Team standards has profited from your generosity in offering an understrength engine room when a little thought and application should have seen them off. It was described as a “must win” which first of all translates to “must not lose”. Has it actually occurred to you that two strikers and a man in the hole leaves just three men to battle with four and sometimes five opposition players? No, obviously not. (Simon Davey lost his job two days later)

November 14th 2009: Barnet 0 Hereford 0

This was a competent and workmanlike performance against a team that had been in a fine run of form. The Bulls dominated the game for all but short periods and were it not for the Assistants oversight would have deservedly come away with a first away League win of the season. Conditions were difficult throughout but The Bulls were effective in all departments. In particular, Gavin McCallum continued to show a fine appetite for the game while Leon Constantine had one of his better games.

August 18th 2007: Barnet 1 Hereford United 2

Trevor Benjamin played a pivotal role as Hereford United came away from Underhill with a 2-1 victory. Despite an early strike from Barnet winger Jason Puncheon, Hereford fought back with goals in either half from Benjamin and Theo Robinson. The turning point however was a red card for Bee's defender Joe Devera after he had pulled Benjamin back on the edge of the box, and was adjudged to be the last man.

August 19th 2006: Barnet 3 Hereford United 0

Out-played is probably the best term to describe Hereford United's performance against Barnet this afternoon at Underhill. Barnet who, until this afternoon was over, hadn't notched up a league point all season, were superior to their counterparts all over the field, and some of Hereford's weaknesses were highlighted throughout.
