O'Kelly Proud Of His Players

Hereford United manager Richard O'Kelly, photo taken by Andy Compton, gave his views of this afternoon's drawn match against Plymouth to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I was very proud of them. We were disappointed to concede the goal but there were spells in the first half where we showed things that we were capable of.

"Second half I thought we went out - Was it tactics? was it attitude? I don't really know but we certainly gave it a go in the second half."

Plymouth could have been 2-0 ahead at the break had they converted a penalty.

"The penalty was missed. Was it a penalty? I couldn't see from where I was, I thought we might have had a shout in the second half.

"Probably the rub of the green in a lot of decisions today went against us. We have to keep fighting and beat that.

Tom Barkhuizen was given a more central role today

"First half he gone on the ball a few times but the final pass didn't always come off. But he's a bright lad, still learning the game and I think he enjoyed himself playing in there today. Long may it continue."

Overall O'Kelly seemed pleased that the team had performed so much better than at Rotherham last Saturday.

"A lot of the time it's just belief because they can all play. It's just belief. Second half we showed a lot of belief.

"Kenny Lunt was on the ball a little more. Nicky Featherstone I thought was outstanding.

"Michael Townsend and Stefan Stam second half were up there for the fight.

"Bryan Anthony came in and did everything I thought he would. Great personality."
