News Round-Up

Former Bull Sam Gwynne played for Worcester on trial last night in their friendly match with Bishop's Cleeve. Ben Purkiss, Nicky Featherstone, and James Baxendale were all trialists in the Walsall side that beat Kidderminster last night. The Harriers were 2-0 up at half time before bringing on trialist keeper Nathan Vaughan, with the Saddlers winning 3-2. Kidderminster boss Steve Burr said afterwards he was to sign Vaughan, a 30 year old who had spent most of his career with the likes of Redditch and Evesham.

Barrow are to sign a trio of players this week. Defender Sean Hessey, and midfielders Garry Hunter and Alex-Ray Harvey will sign deals with the club after trials. Hessey, 33, spent last season at Accrington, Hunter, 27, was at Morecambe, and Harvey, 22, had two loan spells with Barrow last season from Burnley. The Bluebirds will have 13 players signed on for the coming season with the new additions.

Former Bulls loanee Brian Smikle is on trial with League One side Scunthorpe. The former West Brom trainee was released by Cheltenham earlier in the summer. Luton are beginning to fear the worst over summer signing Danny Spiller, with the former Gillingham man's achillies injury problem feared so bad that he may even miss the season.

Nuneaton have signed Australian keeper Ben McNamara on contract for the coming season, their ninth signing of the summer. McNamara came to the UK last month to play in English football, previously trialling with Wimbledon and Doncaster. Port Vale bidder Keith Ryder has asked for another 24 hours to complete his takeover of the club. Last night's deadline passed without the deal being concluded, leading many to believe it is on the verge of collapse.

Ebbsfleet have added two more players to their squad for the coming season, signing former Dagenham forward Phil Walsh and ex-Brentford defender Ryan Blake. Walsh, 28, failed to score in 29 games last season, while Blake, 20, previously helped the Fleet to promotion from Conf South while on loan in 2011. Luton have confirmed they have loaned midfielder Andre Boucard to Notts County until January.

Kidderminster have added former Redditch chairman Ken Rae to their boardroom. Rae, who was in charge at Redditch as their finances collapsed in 2011, has since had a spell in the boardroom at Alfreton. Harriers say they have agreed a fee with Alfreton of £2,500 for midfielder Dan Bradley, and that they are still in negotiation with Burton over goalkeeper Dean Lyness.
