News Round-Up

Grimsby are considering pulling out of their reserve league after just one season back in it due to a lack of matches and the poor quality of the opposition. The Mariners have been dealt a blow after loan winger Marcus Marshall was recalled by parent club Bury. Luton are claimed to be on the verge of signing Marshall, who played 10 times for the Mariners.

Today's planned Conference chairman's meeting has been postponed due to the weather. It is now scheduled to take place in early February. Wrexham say that merchandise sales through their club shop have been so strong over the Christmas period that his has cancelled out any cashflow issues from a series of match cancellations.

Bury have had their transfer embargo lifted on Friday after they repaid a PFA loan. The League One side fielded just 15 players for their last game, but had Saturday's home game with Stevenage called off due to the weather. Former Bulls loanee James Baxendale has signed a new deal at Walsall that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2014. The 20 year old winger has started sixteen games for the Saddlers since signing in the summer.

Plymouth's Supporters Trust has turned down the chance to buy 20% of the club after a vote of supporters showed little interest. The scheme would have seen the Trust buy the stake for £400,000 but have no seat on the board or any other input. The Trust will make a counter offer to owner James Brent over a say in the club's running. Nuneaton captain Mark Noon is expected to miss the rest of the season due to complications surrounding the broken leg that has kept him out since pre-season. The 29 year old is expected to need to have screws inserted into the leg removed, delaying his recovery.
