Grimsby are considering pulling out of their reserve league after just one season back in it due to a lack of matches and the poor quality of the opposition. The Mariners have been dealt a blow after loan winger Marcus Marshall was recalled by parent club Bury. Luton are claimed to be on the verge of signing Marshall, who played 10 times for the Mariners.

The scheme would have seen the Trust buy the stake for £400,000 but have no seat on the board or any other input. The Trust will make a counter offer to owner James Brent over a say in the club's running. Nuneaton captain Mark Noon is expected to miss the rest of the season due to complications surrounding the broken leg that has kept him out since pre-season. The 29 year old is expected to need to have screws inserted into the leg removed, delaying his recovery.
