News Round-Up

Stockport say they will not be able to compete financially with the top six in Conf North next season. Manager Ian Bogie says there are currently players in the division earning far more than the Hatters could offer. Two players, Andy Halls and Sam Sheridan, have turned down their contract offers for next season and have left the club. Forest Green have signed striker Danny Wright from Wrexham on a two year deal. The free agent scored 16 times this season, but missed the play-offs through injury.

Macclesfield have released seven players. Among them is striker Guy Madjo but they have offered a new deal to former Bulls loanee Waide Fairhurst, top scorer Matthew Barnes-Homer, and highly rated wide man Jack Mackreth. Robbie Fowler has denied reports that he has offered to manage the club for free, but chief executive Jon Harris has confirmed the Liverpool legend has been interviewed for the job.

Chester boss Neil Young says the club will not be splashing the cash this coming season, telling the local press that they cannot afford to spend £600-£700 a week in wages on a single player: “We simply can’t afford wages of £25,000 so we have to cut our cloth accordingly and that means being able to employ players for realistic prices.” Luton have agreed a deal for next season with former Dagenham man Solomon Taiwo after his short term deal expired.

Mansfield boss Paul Cox says striker Matt Green and defender Luke Jones are both being chased by higher graded sides after the Stags' promotion success. Nuneaton have accepted the transfer request from youngster Wes York. The 19 year old established himself as a first team regular this season, and the Boro will require a fee for his services.

Lincoln have confirmed the signing of released Walsall winger Jake Jones. The 20 year old says he signed for the Imps over other Conference sides as they were one of the bigger teams in terms of support. Fleetwood have released a dozen players after their first League Two season. Among them is Hyde loan playmaker Jamie Milligan, former FGR and Wrexham striker Andy Mangan, and Conference veteran defender Kieran Charnock.

Former Bulls loanee Andy Corbett ended his professional football career last night with two goals in his testimonial match against Derby. The game ended 8-8 with former Bull Theo Robinson hitting a hat-trick for the Rams.  Barnet's neighbours at their Hive complex have taken to the local press claiming that the club's move there will cause traffic chaos. The club say they should have objected when the planning application went in.
