Edgar Street is to be one of the venues in Herefordshire promoting the forthcoming White Ribbon Campaign.
The White Ribbon national campaign is organised by a group of men who know that there is never an excuse for violence against women. They pledge never to condone violence, or remain silent when they know it is happening. The campaign is part of a worldwide movement.
“Violence against women happens more than you think. It’s mostly committed by men. We won’t stand for it.”
The white ribbon campaign is ongoing and people can wear white ribbons and challenge violence against women at any time. However, the 16 days of action initiative (25 November to 10 December) is a specific campaign to raise awareness of violence against women and girls. Many activities will be taking place at this time across the UK and worldwide.
Herefordshire is joining the 16 days of action campaign. The Herefordshire Community Safety Partnership has organised several events in Herefordshire one of which will take place at Edgar Street next Tuesday
On Tuesday 26th of November Hereford United is promoting the White Ribbon - 16 days of action at their evening home game v Halifax Town. Kick-off is 7.45pm. White Ribbons are being given out to supporters and photos taken of some Hereford United Players, the Manager and guests wearing their ribbons and promoting the campaign. (For guests invited to the game it is anticipated the photo-shoot will take place at 7.10pm).
