Andy Porter And Martin Foyle Acknowledging Chris Sharp's Contribution To The Game |
"It stops the rot."
Asked about Braintree playing 'direct' football, he added: "Is it direct? The strikers know it's coming. We've changed a little bit to do that. We knew what the conditions were going to be like, it wasn't one for getting the ball down. Sometimes when you're in a sticky situation you've got to go back to front a little bit quicker.
"The front two did well, worked very hard. Thought Dan Walker was excellent today and hopefully that goal will give him a springboard.
"Again we've conceded from a corner, I think that's the most disappointing thing. It was not the first ball but the second ball that dropped down but that's what Holman's good at. He's a goalscorer and that's what we've missed and that's why our top scorer is on six goals."
Interviewer Keith Hall called the final five or ten minutes 'a real scrap': "That's probably the question that has been thrown at a few people of late. But I tell you, what's going on behind the scenes, I think it shows the players are certainly up for it.
"It's not about me, it's not about the Board, it's about the players."
Foyle also noted that the injured players were unlikely to be fit for Tuesday, with youngsters Cory Williams and Jarrod Bowen also picking up knocks in training.
Meanwhile the Braintree manager noted Hereford's performance.
“I thought we deserved to win the game. Hereford came to spoil. We will take a point and move on," said Devonshire.
