£25 To Visit Swindon

With no mention of matchday ticket prices on their own website, Swindon's prices for the new season have been revealed by opening day opponents Crewe.

The Robins will charge £25 for Adult visitors to the County Ground, £9 more than the equivalent ticket at Edgar Street. Under 16's will be charged a less than friendly £12, with 'young adults' charged £17 and Over 60's £19. The charges mean that a family of four Bulls supporters travelling to Wiltshire will fork out over £100 in tickets and fuel alone.

They have been pushing relatively cheap season tickets with Adult seating available at £299. It is nearly half the price of buying the tickets individually, with the full season costing £575 that way.

News Round-Up

Nick Chadwick scored twice for Altrincham on trial in their friendly loss to Burnley yesterday. Swindon have signed trialists Oliver Risser and Ibrahim Atiku on two year contracts. Namibian international Risser most recently played in the Finnish top flight, while Ghanain Atiku has been playing in the Greek second tier.

Bristol Rovers are to sign Leicester teenager Cian Bolger on a six month loan. The 19 year old defender played six times on loan with the Pirates last term. Kidderminster have agreed a fee with Nuneaton for midfielder Kyle Storer. The former Tamworth man, 23, scored 16 times in Conf North last season.

Worcester are to press ahead with their plans for a new stadium after backing out of the move last year. They are unable to break their contract with the developers so will make up the £1.5million funding shortfall by cutting down the plans for the stadium. They will reduce the capacity to just 3,200 and scale back the buildings to make the stadium cost just £600,000 to build instead of £2million.

AFC Wimbledon are reported to have had a bid accepted for Dover striker Adam Birchall. He is already in talks with Swindon over a move.

Bulls to trial young French defender?

Young French defender Benoit Dalibard is believed to be joining The Bulls for a trial expected to extend initially to two weeks.

Dalibard is a 20 year-old six-footer who has played his recent football at Guingamp in France. Guingamp currently compete in the Chamionat National, the third level of French football. Chelsea's Florent Malouda spent three seasons at Guingamp before joining Lyon.

News Round-Up

Former Bulls loanee Jennison Myrie-Williams has agreed a two year deal to move to Stevenage. The former Bristol City trainee has been a free agent since leaving St Johnstone in January. Plymouth are to sell young striker Joe Mason to Cardiff for £250,000. The move will see them drop their contracted players to 12, with only 20 allowed while they remain in Administration.

Port Vale fans are planning a major demonstration against the board at their opening game of the season. Potential director Mark Sims says he is still waiting for answers to some of his questions to the board, and says he will require major changes to be made to the club. Both Wrexham and Newport will take part in this season's Welsh Cup. Neither side has played in the competition for at least 15 years.

Gillingham's offer for Dover striker Adam Birchall has been described by the Dover chairman as 'barely enough to cover a taxi ride' between the two clubs, and that Newport's bid was much larger. Gills assistant boss Ian Hendon is reported to have left the club for a coaching job at West Ham. Rushden fans have voted in favour of forming 'AFC Rushden & Diamonds' and will aim to start playing in the 2012/3 season.

Kettering are to charge £18 admission for Adults to sit or stand for their matches this coming season. Swindon have had a bid accepted by Dover for striker Adam Birchall. The 'significant undisclosed' bid is the only one to be accepted by the Conf South side.

Thieves Target Roots Hall

Life isn't easy at Southend. The club have well documented financial problems and didn't need to be targeted by thieves this week.

The intruders were after copper piping and whilst at Roots Hall caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

It is hoped that repairs will be completed in time for the visit of Hereford United on August 6th.

"The club is not flush with cash and the costs of the repairs will hurt us," said a club spokesman.

"It is money we could have been spending on better things, like strengthening the team."

Pell signs two year deal

Hereford United have confirmed that former Bristol Rovers midfielder Harry Pell has signed a two year deal with the club, following a successful trial period.

Pell spent a loan spell with United in the early part of 2011.

Born on October 21st, 1991 19 year old Pell joined the youth set-up at Charlton Athletic at the tender age of seven. In 2010, Pell spent a 'work-experience' spell at Hastings United, scoring four times in nineteen appearences. In the summer of 2010, Pell was released by Charlton, and subsequently joined League One outfit Bristol Rovers, having trialled at the Memorial Ground along with training stints at Gillingham and Wycombe Wanderers.

Pell made his Rovers debut as a sub in November 2010, in the 3-0 defeat to Leyton Orient. In January 2011, Pell joined Hereford on loan where he made seven appearences. The fans took to the young midfielder, who impressed with his skillful and energetic displays. Following his contract being mutually terminated by the Gasmen, Pell trained with United before agreeing a two year deal with the club.

Sponsorship and Hospitality Brochure from Hereford United

Hereford United have produced a glossy sponsorship and hospitality brochure for the coming season. Sponsors from last season have been sent a copy.

For those who haven't yet seen a copy and might be interested in sponsorship, hospitality and/or advertising here's a short precis of what is on offer.

Sponsorship: There are various ways to become a sponsor at Edgar Street.

For £300 a player can be sponsored, for £150 one can purchase the matchball, for £300 one can buy an advertising space in the match programme for the season and for £1100 a premium advertising board. Other boards are available at less money.

Hospitality: Three hospitality rooms are available this season and for just £40 per head one can purchase the 'Big Match Experience' which includes a choice of local food from Cathedral Catering, a VIP seat in the stand and a chance to select the Man of the Match.

Corporate Partner: For £750 one can purchase a Bulls Game. This includes a hospitality package for 10, branding on the front of the matchday programme, name on the electronic scoreboard and sponsorship of the match ball.

"For individual fans and firms alike we believe Hereford United is something special. Its history and its heroes have made headlines around the footballing world and we hope we can now enjoy success together and spread the word far and wide."

Pell To Resolve His Future Today

Bristol Rovers boss Paul Buckle has said that no players have left the Memorial Ground since his arrival.

With Harry Pell having stated he was leaving the club, and apparently training with the Bulls, Buckle said that any contract offers were still on the table. He told the press:

"There are players here who will possibly move on. I'm just waiting, really, as I think that agents will dictate that with the players to a certain extent. However, I'll only give that situation so much time before I step in.

"It's up to those players now, but I have to say that they have been great and they have trained rally well. They are good players, but they have to decide now whether to commit everything to this club or move on, because I won't let anything hold the squad back."

Pell told his Twitter followers yesterday that he hoped to resolve his future today.

News Round-Up

Bradford say they have no case to answer after Falkirk claimed compensation for striker Mark Stewart. The 23 year old was out of contract and the Bantams are sure he is available for free at that age on a cross-border deal. The Bantams have also signed released Sheff Weds teenager Patrick Lacey. The 18 year old is the latest addition to their new 'development' squad.

Plymouth have released season ticket prices for the coming season, dropping their Adult ticket price to £340, with matchday prices set to be £21. The Pilgrims have failed in a bid to sign Robbie Fowler, with the veteran striker preferring to play in Thailand. Barnet are trialling released MK Dons keeper Stuart Searle and Harrow full back Ryan Watts. Searle, 32, had a two year spell at Chelsea coaching the reserve keepers while Watts, 23, was previously a trainee at Brentford.

Northampton have signed a trio of players including ex-Bull Lewis Young. Boss Gary Johnson worked with the released Burton man at Watford, while also joining the Cobblers are Bermudan keeper Freddy Hall and former Tamworth utility man Nick McKoy, all on one year deals. Rotherham say they have agreed an undisclosed fee with Bristol City for forward Ryan Taylor.

Stockport's claims of lodging a £100,000 bid for Bury's Ryan Lowe have been rubbished by the Bury chairman. Brian Fenton told the press he was unhappy his club was 'being used for a publicity stunt'. Accrington have also laughed off reports that they have been offered £30,000 for Sean McConville, saying the bid is much less. Assistant boss Jimmy Bell has told McConville a move to the Hatters would be 'a terrible career move', while Halifax have rejected a claimed £50,000 offer for striker Jamie Vardy saying it will take a much bigger side that the Hatters to turn the player's head.

Wrexham's Supporters Trust have confirmed lodging a bid with the club's current owners, adding that the offer is backed by un-named third parties. One person unlikely to be involved is former bidder Stephanie Booth, after her hotel chain went into Administration after winding up proceedings brought by the taxman. Burton boss Paul Peschisolido says he may have to spend money to bring in a striker after missing out on a string of free-transfers who have gone for higher wages elsewhere.

Dover chairman Jim Parmeter says striker Adam Birchall will be sold to Gillingham 'over my dead body'. Newport have confirmed making three offers for the striker, who had a transfer request refused earlier in the week, which Parmeter called 'an insult'. Torquay are trialling striker Taiwo Atieno. The 25 year old has had 12 clubs in seven years, leaving Stevenage in May after just three months.

Lincoln's board are to face a vote of no-confidence at an EGM called for July 21st. Several shareholders have questioned some of the board's recent actions. Port Vale striker Justin Richards has been fined £2,000 and ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work after being convicted for his part in a street fight.

No Bye For Bulls In JPT

The Bulls will face one of seven sides in the First Round of the South West section of the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

AFC Bournemouth, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town, Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, and Wycombe Wanderers will be one of the sides the Bulls will be drawn against when the draw is made on August 13th.

Sixteen sides have been handed byes into the Second Round including Yeovil, Swindon, and Oxford. AFC Wimbledon have also been handed a bye meaning they will avoid a potential draw with MK Dons in the opening round, but they could still face the franchise side later on with both in the South East section.

News Round-Up

Cheltenham are trialling released Shrewsbury striker Nathan Elder. The 26 year old has just recovered from a knee injury suffered last year. Swindon are to sign Argentinian striker Hugo Bargas. The 24 year old turned down a new contract with Dutch top flight side De Graafschap in March.

Former Bulls defender Alex Jeannin has left Truro City after failing to agree a new deal with the club. Wrexham's Supporters Trust say they are ready to make an offer for the club after received the majority - but not all - of the documents required to perform due dilligence on the club.

Rushden have appointed an Administrator, with his first act to tell creditors that he will be liquidating the club. They owe an estimated £750,000. Plymouth's takeover deal will now go before the Football League for ratification after the £6million deal was agreed. The PFA have also raised objections over the sacking of Kari Arnason, while Peter Ridsdale is to sue the News of the World over the hacking of his phone.

Gillingham fielded former Barnet keeper Jake Cole, Hendon striker Gregory N'Goyi, and Faversham defender Jack Baldwin as trialists as they won their opening pre-season game 3-0 over Ashford United. Bristol Rovers fielded former Lincoln defender Cian Hughton and former loanee midfielder Reggie Lambe in their 5-1 win over Mangotsfield.

Stockport's new director is the subject of a dispute with Administrators dealing with the collapse of a company he ran that went bust owing £1.2million. The Administrators of Kirkby call centre operator Anthony Donald Evans say Anthony Evans owes the firm nearly £100,000, but he disputes the claim. He now has a hand in Kirky-based ambulance chasers GT Law. The Liverpool Echo, in reporting the story, says Dietmar Hamann was warned off taking the Stockport job by Sven Goran Ericsson.

Grimsby chairman John Fenty says it would take a six-figure bid for them to sell ex-Bull Alan Connell, and he wouldn't go to another Conference side. Luton boss Gary Brabin confirmed making a bid for the former Bournemouth man last night. Chris Mackenzie has left Alfreton by mutual consent. The former Bulls keeper, now 39, had 12 months left on his deal after only signing in February. He helped Nicky Law's men to promotion with 19 appearances in three months.

Stockport have announced they have made a £100,000 bid for Bury striker Ryan Lowe. They have also made an improved offer to Halifax for forward Jamie Vardy and expect to seal a deal for Accrington's Sean McConville before the weekend. Accrington say the first offer for McConville was 'derisory' but they have agreed a fee with Oldham for keeper Alex Cisak.

Former Bulls striker Lee Morris is reported to have signed part-time terms with Eastwood Town. The Evo-Stik Premier side lost their financial backers in May after their promotion to Conf North was refused on ground grading issues. Morris will take a player/coach role while working with a tool business he has an interest in.

Sneekes Grateful to be at Edgar Street

Hereford United's new coach, Richard Sneekes, has said that he's greatful for the chance to get back into football with the Bulls.

"I read on Ceefax about Dave Kevan leaving and I asked someone if there would be an opportunity at Hereford," he told the Hereford Times.

"Jamie Pitman interviewed me on the Monday and he rang me on the Friday to say my interview had been successful.

"Once you are out of football, it's hard to get back in and I'm grateful for the chance and, hopefully, we will get things right on the pitch.

"I am pretty outgoing and social. I would say that I am approachable for all the players.

"We've got a really good squad here and hopefully we can gel them together."

Manager Brian Hughes said that the youngster had e-mailed the club after being released by Hereford.

He could take part in their first friendly which is against Cheltenham Town next Saturday.

News Round-Up

Rejected Plymouth bidder Paul Buttivant has hired a private investigator to examine the club's Administration process. He told the local press he was unhappy with the reasons given for his bid's rejection. The club say the deal to sell the club has been signed, but there are increasing concerns amongst fans that the involvement of Truro owner Kevin Heaney will see the sale blocked. Swindon's game with Rotherham on Sept 3rd will be shown on Sky Sports.

Bradford have signed 16 year old defender Scott Brown from Clyde on a two year deal. The youngster has been handed a squad number by boss Peter Jackson. Bristol Rovers striker Jo Kuffour has rejected a move to Yeovil as he wants to play nearer to London. Southend have been handed an extension to their planning application to build a new stadium. The much-delayed project now has until 2014 to be completed.

Swindon are trialling Italian forward Cristian Cesaretti. The 23 year old scored four goals in the Italian third division last term. Rotherham have made their pre-season friendly with Sheff Weds all-ticket on Police advice. Burton have been offered Derby's u19 England keeper Ross Atkins for the season on loan, with the stopper likely to be offered to another League side if the Brewers turn down the chance.

Stockport have appointed solicitor Tony Evans to their board ahead of a full takeover of the club. He is reported to have injected £250,000 into the club, and has appointed Dietmar Hamann as the club's fifth manager in just over a year. Ray Mathias is reported to have been offered the chance to remain at the club as Hamann's no.2. Crewe are trialling former Leeds keeper Alan Martin and defender Curtis Hayes-Brown, who has been playing for Lowestoft.

Crawley are claimed to have paid Macclesfield £175,000 for striker Tyrone Barnett according to press reports. Aldershot are trialling Chalfont St Peter striker Charlie Strutton. He scored 36 goals for the Evo-Stik 1 Central side last term. Accrington keeper Alex Cisak has signed a two year deal with Oldham. Stanley would be eligible to claim a fee for the 22 year old, but details of any agreement have not yet been disclosed.

Port Vale have appointed youth coach Mark Grew as their new assistant manager, with Geoff Horsfield dropping down to assisting coaching with both the first team and reserves. Bristol Rovers are to sign former Bulls loanee winger Joe Anyinsah. The former Bristol City trainee had an injury-hit season with Charlton last term.

AFC Wimbledon say they will not pay the price asked by Grimsby for ex-Bull Alan Connell after expressing an interest in the 28 year old. Boss Terry Brown says he is not desperate enough for another forward to meet the asking price. Northampton are to run free buses from Rushden and surrounding towns for their first free home matches in a bid to lure fans from the area.

Gillingham are reported to have paid £120,000 for AFC Wimbledon striker Danny Kedwell. Stockport are reported to have had a £100,000 bid for Bury striker Ryan Lowe rejected, although the Shakers deny the bid was that size, and have also had an offer for Accrington's Sean McConville and Halifax's striker Jamie Vardy rejected following yesterday's cash injection. Southend have allowed striker Matt Patterson to go on trial at Oxford. The 21 year old former Southampton trainee still has 12 months left on his deal.

AFC Telford have signed former Bulls loanee Dan Preston on a one year deal. The former Birmingham youngster joins Craig King and Ryan Valentine at the club, while former Bulls reserve stopper Lee Evans is also on trial at the New Bucks Head.

For Whom Does The Pell Toil?

Harry Pell is training somewhere, and the message boards seem convinced it's with the Bulls.

Since he confirmed his own departure from Bristol Rovers on Twitter there has been little confirmed movement from the 'Essex Socrates'. A Google search throws up little to shed light on his situation.

There is still a question whether Bristol Rovers are entitled to a fee for the teenager. Pell rejected their offer of a new deal to leave, and the Pirates would hold claims to compensation if they offered him at least equal terms to his existing deal.

Their official site is not heaving with information either, with the only official word since Pell announced his own departure was a note that he was not at their first day of pre-season training. It was also noted on Monday that manager Paul Buckle 'had no news on players departing'.

News Round-Up

Cheltenham have signed Bath City utility man Sido Jombati for a nominal fee. The Portugese 24 year old has signed a one year deal after starting every Conference match for Bath last season. Northampton chairman Dennis Cardoza says the club is going to have a much smaller squad this season with a top three finish the aim.

Swindon have offered Namibian trialist Oliver Risser a contract, while they will also trial Estonian international defender Taijo Teniste during their current Italian training camp trip. Plymouth's takeover has been further delayed, with Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle having to deny that the bidders are having trouble funding the deal.

Rushden have issued a statement saying the club was insolvent and could not continue after talks with potential investors failed. It will be placed into receivership with co-owner Steve Beasant intending to issue a full statement later. Kettering's Supporters Trust has issued a statement saying they will not be starting a phoenix club when the Poppies move to Nene Park. Despite a vote at a meeting voting in favour of the move they acknowledge only a quarter of their membership voted on the night.

Hartlepool have told fans they will pay only £150 for their season tickets this season. They were due to drop to £200 once they passed the 3,000 sales mark but are still 100 short of that number. Bradford bidder Steve Parkin has backed off a deal after failing to reach agreement with co-chairmen Mark Lawn and Julian Rhodes. Parkin now says he is concentrating on other business before looking at the Bantams again.

Stockport are reported to have parted company with manager Ray Mathias ahead of an afternoon press conference from bidder Tony Evans. Rumours that Stephen Vaughan is part of the bid have surfaced. Southend's summer cost cutting has seen them go as far as withdrawing a free season ticket to an 83 year old fan that was promised free tickets for life 12 years ago.

Hereford's Di Canio

Exiled Bull, our resident Baggies expert, is still in shock with the appointment of King Dick Sneekes:

Richard Sneekes is not your average footballer. He’s always marched to the sound of a different drum and played the way he wanted to play. To this day, mention the ‘Sneekes Position’ to Hawthorns regulars and they’ll know exactly what you mean. In his own way, he was as flamboyant as Swindon’s Di Canio.

Off the pitch - he’s one cute cookie, intelligent, gregarious, fluent in many languages, a financial expert, a family man (five children) and a businessman. He doesn’t suffer fools gladly and certainly in his playing days could be very moody. However, he’s very approachable for supporters.

Forget Dudley Town. My understanding is that he only played a handful of games. Turning out was a favour to his son and the coach. But five a side – that’s his game now. For more years than I can remember, Richard has been the star of the Midlands Masters Albion side – often their only star.

I have two reactions to the news. Firstly – how is he going to fit in such a commitment? Admittedly he’s sold his Italian restaurant (shame – the desserts were magical) but I assume he will maintain his financial, property and green enterprises in some way? He’s been running kids coaching all over the Black Country, with the emphasis on passing football in the best traditions of Ajax. Then there’s his column in the Albion News (which isn’t ghost written).

My second reaction is – are you sure, Rich? The Richard I remember is impatient and was not keen on overnight stays. He liked good pitches and quality training facilities. He’s only played a handful of games at lower level and has very limited experience of training adult players. I guess I’m missing something fundamental here so Rich feel free to put me straight at Ludlow.

More positively, I can immediately see how he would get on with Russell and young Jamie. I can see the connection straight away. And talking of connection, Richard is very well connected and has set up businesses with numerous ex-pros from several different clubs. He has a special bond, not surprisingly, with Dutch players.

By strange coincidence, this week I’m updating a 7,000 word article on Richard for a paperback visit of “Cult Heroes” due out next year. Here’s a couple of extracts from the original.

Richard Sneekes first club was his local side Ajax of Amsterdam, a pedigree both unhelpful and helpful at the same time. He’d joined their famous academy straight from school, learning what he wanted to learn. Even at that early age, he was showing signs of wanting to go his own way, to make up his own mind up – difficult in the essentially dictatorial world of football. Initially, his talent took centre stage and he made his first team debut at the age of 16 in 1985 against Haarlem, playing alongside Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard. He became the club’s youngest ever debutant (even though the record was subsequently beaten by Clarence Seedorf, Richard’s picture still hangs in the club museum).

A combination of his ego and stiff competition meant that, although he was playing regular Dutch schoolboy internationals, even a couple of Under 21 matches, his club appearances were limited to just three. Shouting something very uncomplimentary at the Ajax reserve manager during a game was not a great career move, particularly as club boss Cruyff was in earshot. ....

...Richard was always a bit different, as Glynis Wright recalled after one encounter. “The strange thing about Richard is the fact that should you ever pass him in the street, it wouldn’t immediately hit you that he was a former player. Take tonight for example; when we first clapped eyes on him wearing his trademark baseball cap, rounded off with hooded top, T-shirt, well-worn jeans and white trainers, he looked for all the world more like an off-duty brickie than someone who had graced both Premiership and First Division stages. Add to that those well-remembered long blonde locks of his, and what you have left is an image far removed indeed from the normal media stereotype of a top-rank player.”

Richard befriended some rank and file supporters and met them regularly socially. He made the effort to learn the names of many others and always acknowledged their presence with unfailing politeness. On away trips, as Lee Hughes wrestled with the bigger words in the Sun, Sneekes was studying the Financial Times. He’s a highly intelligent, articulate and independent man – all qualities that many managers regard as some kind of a threat.

Rushden Withdraw Appeal

Rushden have withdrawn their appeal against their expulsion from the Conference.

With Kettering set to take over their Nene Park home, it is widely expected that the current Rushden and Diamonds will fold and a reformed club will be set up for the 2012/13 season.

The Conference say they will issue a full statement tomorrow when they will also released the fixture lists.

Sneekes Is New Bulls Coach

Former West Brom midfielder Richard Sneekes is the Bulls new coach to replace Dave Kevan.

The Dutchman, 42, was still playing for Dudley Town last season alongside his son, while also helping with Tamworth's Academy side. He played over 250 games for the Baggies and won Dutch u21 caps, and told Bulls Player he would be looking to coach a passing style:

"I like the passing side of football, and the more technical side, so I'll concentrate on that. We'll try and emphasise on playing nice attractive football."

Sneekes lined up alongside Russell Hoult at the weekend in the Midlands Masters tournament for West Brom, but the pair spent just six months together at the Hawthorns with Hoult arriving in January 2001 and Sneekes departing that summer.

News Round-Up

The Conference have delayed announcing their fixture lists until after Rushden's appeal, while eyebrows have been raised after it was reported in the Non-League Paper that they are to hand Bishops Stortford £12,000 to aid their travel costs if they are shunted into Conf North as a result of Rushden's expulsion.

Southend's stadium plans look to be further delayed after a local college terminated a land deal with Sainsburys that is needed to form the access to the store to be built on Roots Hall. The supermarket had agreed a 12 month deadline to complete the deal and paid a non-refundable deposit, but the deadline has passed. Plymouth are reported to be chasing forward Liam Dickinson following his release from Barnsley.

Swindon have signed Italian goalkeeper Mattia Lanzano on a two year deal. The 20 year old has been playing in the Italian fourth tier. Stevenage are reported to have lodged a bid for ex-Bulls striker Alan Connell. Former Bulls loanee keeper Scott Tynan has signed for Conf North side Vauxhall Motors.

Stockport are reported to be set to ditch Ray Mathias and appoint Dietmar Hamann as their new manager if their reported takeover goes through. Plymouth have released defender Bondz N'Gala so he can sign for Yeovil. The 21 year old played 26 times last season. Bradford have added to their trialists with released Rotherham defender Jamie Green, 21, and former Oldham keeper Greg Fleming, 24, who ended last season at Galway United.

Former Bulls keeper Michael Ingham has signed a contract extension at York to keep him at the club until the summer of 2013. He has spent the last three years at the club since being released from Edgar Street. Cheltenham have signed released Wycombe defender Alan Bennett. The 29 year old former Brentford man has spent the last five years in England after starting out with Cork City.

Gillingham have signed Peterboro midfielder Charlie Lee on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 24 year old former Spurs trainee had a month at Priestfield on loan last season. Crewe forward Byron Moore has signed a new one year deal with the club. The 22 year old seemed set to leave but has now agreed a deal after failing to agree a move elsewhere.

Torquay have sold striker Chris Zebroski to Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee. They had earlier rejected an initial offer for the forward. Barnet say they have agreed a compensation package with Notts County over Martin Allen's move to the League One side. Cheltenham are trialling five teenagers, three of them having been released by Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury say they have agreed a deal with Accrington striker Terry Gornell to join the club, but that they are yet to agree a fee with Stanley. Rotherham have signed released Brentford striker Lewis Grabban. The former Millwall man scored four times in 18 games after signing for the Bees in January. Tim Sills has signed for Conf South side Basingstoke Town. He played for them previously ten years ago before moving up into the Conf and L2.

Morecambe have released winger Adam Rundle midway through his two year contract so he can seek regular first team football elsewhere. The 26 year old started only eight League games last term.

Hoult In The Masters

Bulls coach Russell Hoult is one of a number of familiar faces playing in tonight's Midlands Masters football, starting at 7pm on Sky.

Hoult lines up for West Brom alongside ex-Bull Stacy Coldicott. Also featuring, for Aston Villa, is David Norton while Phil Robinson is turning out for Wolves.

Stam pleased with Two Year Deal

Stefan Stam has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that the location of Edgar Street and the chance of a two year deal helped persuade him to sign for the Bulls.

"There was a few things going on," said Stam. "I had a few phone calls but nothing really.

"I just wanted to stay here and I don't have to move from Bristol so that was good.

"That's what I was looking for the most as a two-year contract means I can get fit and play my games.

"I had a horrible season last year under my previous manager as I wasn't fit for a lot of the time so I just want to get a decent start here and get some games under my belt.

"I enjoyed myself here last year. For me personally, I played eleven and think we only lost one. There were a few clean sheets in there too so I hope we can do the same thing again.

"I just hope Hereford can get a better start than last year as that would improve the season."

Reminded that pre-season involves running up hills, Stam said that's what you do.

"It's the same everywhere but maybe not in Holland!"

Bulls Up A Spot In Bookies Lists

The Bulls have moved up a spot in the bookies lists of odds for League Two next season.

While remaining a 66/1 shot with bet365, Nordic newcomer to the market Unibet has put long odds on the Bulls' supposed relegation rivals. Cheltenham are now 149/1 outsiders, with Macclesfield 100/1, Burton 99/1, Barnet 79/1, and Morecambe now out to 74/1. Even longer odds are available on Betfair, with the Robins out as far as 208/1.

At the other end of the table Crawley remain 100/30 favourites, with no other side making significant moves up the ratings. Swindon have slipped to 11/1 after some less than stellar signings, while both Bristol Rovers (13/1) and Southend (28/1) have received some support.

Hinton A Coach Target?

Former Bristol Rovers defender Craig Hinton is reported to be one of three names interviewed this week to become the new Bulls coach.

The 33 year old ended last season as assistant manager at the Memorial Ground after leaving a playing role at Northampton in March, but he is surplus to requirements with the Pirates after Paul Buckle's appointment. The versatile defender has racked up over 400 games across the Conference and Leagues One and Two and may well be in line for a backup playing job as well.

Meanwhile Harry Pell is being linked with a move to join up with Lennie Lawrence at Crystal Palace according to the press.

The Bristol Evening Post reports that the former Bulls loanee, who was named the Pirates' Young Player of the Year last season, is wanted by Lawrence. Pell started his career at Charlton, where Lawrence originally made his name, and is said by Rovers fans to have joined their club for the veteran boss.

Oh, vaya gol!

I doubt John Motson's words are often translated into Spanish but, for reasons unknown, a Spanish TV side interviewed some Bulls legends about that game in 1972.

Colin Addison and Ricky George are interviewed about the game, displaying some real emotion about their greatest day. While the voice-over is in Spanish, their words and John Motson's commentary are in English and the video is well worth a watch.

It can be seen here.

Stam Returns On Two Year Deal

The Bulls have confirmed the signing of Stefan Stam on a two year deal following his release by Yeovil.

The Dutch central defender played ten games on loan at Edgar Street last term after being frozen out at Huish Park, and told Bulls Player he was keen to return to the Bulls:

"I enjoyed my stay here last season, they are good lads here, and the manager is good, he did well last year. I'm just happy to be playing and can't start soon enough."
