Closer look at Hildred needed

Hereford United will take more time before deciding whether to offer Ashley Hildred a contract.

The ex-Grimsby played featured for the Bulls last night and first reports appear to be favourable.

Our reporter at the game thought Hildred played well in midfield with Craig Stanley. However he is not the tallest of player and this may count against him.

John Trewick, the Hereford United coach, told BBC Hereford and Worcester of his first impressions of the player.

"Ashley is a midfield player who is here for a trial from Grimsby. Neat and tidy midfield player, I thought he worked his socks off and linked the play quite well.

"He certainly didn't disgrace himself. I thought he did quite well.
