Last seasons back-up goalkeeper, Ben Scott, has been given a trial at League One outfit Walsall. The twenty one year old begins a short trial under Player-Manager Paul Merson in which he will be aiming to impress enough to secure a contract, although he will not be first choice at The Bescott Stadium.
The twenty one year old, signed by Graham Turner from Sheffield United, made just one senior appearance for United last season but captained the reserve side as they won the league.
Merson said, speaking to the Express and Star, "We will take a look at him and another lad who may be coming in. But we know we desperately need a third keeper - it would be too much of a gamble to start with just Andy (Oakes) and Dean (Coleman)."
