Boston manager Steve Evans has warned the League Two big spenders, telling them most will be disappointed.
"I know of at least 11 clubs in League Two that have a playing budget of around £1.5 million. When you look at Darlington's (£250,000) offer for the boy Bridges, it really does show what the likes of Boston United are up against. We have a team budget of £575,000 and out of that, we pay our travel and any accommodation costs we may have over the season."
"I accept that we are one of the smallest clubs in League Two, if not the smallest, but when I look at the number of clubs paying out huge amounts on wages, I can only think a number of chairmen will be hugely disappointed, because only a few can be successful."
The Bulls budget for this season is estimated, from recent accounts and the additional Football League income, to be around £750,000.
