The Bulls entertain Chester for the first time since the last day of the 2003/4 season.
Hereford won 2-1 that day in front of over 7,000 and, less than two and a half years later, just a single player from each side that played that day is still with their club. Rob Purdie joins Chester defender Phil Bolland as the only survivors, but Bolland has left and rejoined Chester since and will play no part in the game through injury.
The Bulls will be looking for their first home points after a spirited defeat to Lincoln on Tuesday. Like Stockport complained about on the previous Saturday, Lincoln had their keeper to thank for a string of saves that maintained their lead after a nervous start from the Bulls. Dean Beckwith may get a chance after participating in light training following his concussion but Wayne Brown, who limped into the ground last night, is still a major doubt.
Chester have started with two out of two, with five goals scored. They've splashed the cash on wages for an almost entirely new side, and have already been warned they are over the squad budgeting limit. The likes of Roberto Martinez and Ricky Ravenhill won't have been cheap but have produced the goods so far.
Hereford vs Chester, Edgar Street, Saturday August 12th, 3pm.
