Preview: Bulls vs Lincoln

The advice is to get there early as a bumper crowd is expected for the Bulls home return to the Football League.

Saturday's 2-0 win over Stockport has increased anticipation amongst Bulls fans, with the bookies also reducing odds on the Bulls to a best-priced 20/1. Historically, it's a tough game for the Bulls after recording just four wins in 28 matches - the last Bulls win coming at Edgar Street in March 1996 with a solitary Nicky Cross strike.

The Bulls home debut preparations will be hampered by a 'keeper crisis. With both contracted goalkeepers, Wayne Brown and Glyn Thompson, injured non-contract rookie Paul Harrison - described by the Stockport radio commentary as looking like a "podgy pub 'keeper" - happily kept the Stockport threat at bay for the final part of the game but manager Graham Turner will be looking for some backup, at least, with neither keeper expected to be fit soon.

Lincoln, three times play-off losers, started with a new look side and new manager after some debatable goings-on in the summer. Saturday's 1-1 draw with unfancied Notts County was not the result their fans wanted and several still feel the squad, hastily assembled after Keith Alexander's departure, is missing a striker and midfielder with some class.

Bulls vs Lincoln, Edgar Street, Tuesday 8th August, 7.45pm.
