The editor of the Hereford Times has published two letters in as many weeks which are critical of Hereford United's attitude to its supporters.
The first letter took the club to task for 'the poor turnstile system they operate'.
In essence the letter complained about the difficulties getting into the Edgar Street ground on Boxing Day.
The second letter, published today, was about the 'pricing procedures for tickets to home matches'.
This letter suggested that the prices charged for young children at Edgar Street were confusing.
The writer said she had written to Graham Turner, the Hereford United manager, about the matter on January 4th but had not received a reply.
It is sad to see such letters being printed in the Hereford Times. Even worse readers who may not be supporters of the club will read these letters and could get the wrong impression.
The club needs all the support it can muster at this time with the crucial on-going discussions about the Edgar Street Grid and how it will affect the football ground. The councillors and others who make these decisions need to be influenced on how important Hereford United is to the area.
How the club is run off the field, as well as on it, is vital to the its future well being. Letters like these don't help the club.
Graham Turner has repeatedly said he sees no need for someone to handle Public Relations/Marketing at the club. He told the Fans Forum last Autumn that there was a limit to what the club could sell and so he could not justify such a post at that time although he didn't rule out the possibility of one in the future.
However a PR/Marketing person, as well as marketing the club, would be able to help when problems arose such as pointed out in the two letters to the Hereford Times.
