Scunthorpe have lost out to Shrewsbury for Blackpool's non-Carlisle related defender Michael Jackson. He opted for the Shrews due to travelling reasons, and not because it's Neverland. Shrewsbury have also signed striker Grant Holt on a three year deal for a club record £170,000.

Southend have signed versatile defender Osei Sankofa. The former Charlton trainee signs a two year deal after spending the back end of last season at Brentford on loan. They have also signed veteran striker Paul Furlong from relegated Luton. He turns 40 in October but still scored 12 goals last season.

Ex-Bull Graham Evans has joined Aberystwyth after choosing to leave Caersws when they only avoided relegation after the Welsh League winners failed to make the ground grading. Crewe veteran Dario Gradi has finished his involvement with the first team by taking sole charge of the club's academy. The 67 year old has spent 25 years in Crewe without working out how to leave.

Ex-Bull Paul Parry has been offered a new two year deal by Cardiff. Crawley's new owners have pumped in £250,000 on unpaid bills to 'put the club on a solid footing'. They have also endorsed Steve Evans' three year deal as manager. Ebbsfleet's internet fans have had a whip round and added £20,000 to their transfer kitty with over 1,000 people pledging £20.

Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous has replaced Wycombe's Ivor Beeks on the Football League Board of Directors. MK Dons have already had 40 applicants for their vacant manager's job. Claimed to be included in the applicants by the press are Ian Holloway, Peter Reid, Steve Cotterill and Roberto Di Matteo. Even Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been touted.

Wrexham are to contact the 'relevant football authorities' over the appointment of Paul Carden as Cambridge's assistant manager. The Dragons signed Carden to a two year deal only a couple of weeks before which is due to start on July 1st. Grimsby have complained to Ebay after a batch of their new 2008/9 home shirts appeared on the auction site for half the retail price.
