Gary Hooper has been transfer listed by Southend, the club have announced today.
The 20 year old is top of most supporters summer shopping lists. A statement from Southend says the decision has been made despite signing a new 18 month deal in January prior to his Edgar Street stay. His name has been circulated to all Football League sides.
The move comes only a month after Hooper declared his future was at Roots Hall, telling the Southend official site: "I played every game during my three months, most of them were for the full 90 minutes and it was great to get promoted, hopefully I can make it two promotions with Southend. I signed a new contract here before I went out on loan and I see my long term future at Roots Hall, hopefully that is in the Championship."
Since then he started the last League match but was subbed after just over an hour, and was not named in any of Southend's play-off squads.
