Oldham defender Reuben Hazell wants his side to step up into one of the automatic spots.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the former Villa trainee said: "We are more than good enough to go even higher. We are on a good run and we have some very experienced players who know what it takes to perform at a higher level.
"The one thing we need to do is kill teams off better and once we do that, as I am sure we will, we will be on our way to where we want to go."
The Latics will travel down tonight with midfielder Mark Allott available again after a one match ban, with manager John Sheridan warning that the width of the Edgar Street pitch will cause his side problems: "We will have to defend at times as it is a big pitch down there and they will come right at us. They are a decent side and have drawn games in the past when they should have won.
"Graham Turner is a very experienced manager who has been around the game a long time and he will have his players up for it. We must go there, get hold of the ball, take care of it and cause them problems."
