Barkhuizen wants to stay with Hereford

Tom Barkhuizen, whose loan spell with Hereford United comes to an end in a couple of weeks, is hopeful he can stay at Edgar Street for the rest of the season. The young winner scored another goal for the Bulls yesterday to take his talley to seven this season.

"I've told Blackpool that I don't want to come back to sit in the reserves," Barkhuizen told BBC Hereford and Worcester after yesterday's match at Plymouth.

"We've got that big a squad I might not get in the reserves.

"I'll probably ring them tonight and they'll tell me that I've got a meeting with the gaffer at Blackpool and the assistant.

"They'll listen to what I've got to say and they'll tell me what they think.

"I haven't got a clue what is happening at the moment but if it means I'm staying here then I'm happy to stay, keep playing, and try and get us up the table."

Talking about the game he felt the decision to put Delroy Facey into the heart of defence, after Michael Townsend had to leave the pitch, paid off.

"When Towny got sent off, a few heads were thinking what are we going to do. We didn't have any centre-halves on the bench. Del's gone in there like Sol Campbell.

"It's always nice to have someone who's got the experience to drop back - he won every header when he was back there, so credit to Del and credit to the staff. They trusted him to go back there."
