MP Raises Concerns About Hereford United

Hereford MP Jesse Norman has raised concerns about the plight of Hereford United at a meeting of the Treasury Commitee this morning.

Whilst he was not able to ask questions that might impede the court proceedings which are currently on-going, Norman was able to highlight the concerns of supporters both in Herefordshire and elsewhere.

He asked three specific questions designed to ensure that HMRC put plenty of resources into ensuring that they probed into matters pertaining to Hereford United.

The first question asked if HMRC scrutinise the information sent to Companies House especially the merry-go round of directors. He felt HMRC should work more closely with Companies House.

The second question was about owners/directors with criminal convictions where a company was in arrears. He challenged HMRC to ensure any were noted.

His third question was about CVA's and whether the process was watertight. He felt that sometimes for bigger companies HMRC tended to use a higher level of standards.

In essence Norman used the opportunity to raise concerns by supporters and others. As his questions and the replies to them will be published they will become 'public record'.
