Shrewsbury Tickets Announced

Hereford United have announced the details of the Shrewsbury Town tickets. The game is due to take place on the 23rd of February.

This from the Official Hereford United Website:

Details of ticketing for the away match at Shrewsbury Town on 23rd February 2008.

Shrewsbury away ticket sales will start on Friday 8th February from the club office, prices are as follows:

Adults £15
Concessions £10

Please Note - Shrewsbury have confirmed that this is an all ticket match and that no sales will be made on the day.

There is no mention of any restrictions on numbers of tickers that can be purchased by any one supporter. Neither has the club said whether 'exiles' will be able to purchase tickets through the post.

Ellison Door Swings Open Again?

The Bulls could be back in the hunt for winger Kevin Ellison after his move to Stockport his a snag.

The announced loan deal to Stockport cannot be formally completed until the loan window reopens on Thursday, but a short statement on the Chester website announces: "The deal that would have seen winger Kevin Ellison move to Stockport County on loan for the remainder of the season is now in question due to objections raised by the player."

It is unknown what objections have been raised, and which club they relate to, but the problem could now see other interested parties hijack the deal. The Bulls, Wrexham, and Bury were all confirmed as interested parties before the transfer window closed. Ellison announced his intentions to remain a Chester player, but was announced to be joining the Hatters just two days later.

Ledbury Prices Announced

Hereford United have finally confirmed prices for tonight's game with Ledbury.

Adults will pay £3, with Children just £1. The Merton Stand will be the only stand open, with entrance only through the Vice Presidents Club entrance. Please note the 7.30 pm kick off time.

News Round Up

Chesterfield have named Scott Sellars as their new assistant boss to replace Alan Knill. The former Blackburn midfielder has been working in the youth setup at Sheff Utd. Macclesfield are giving away tickets to home fans that pay for tonights game. The tickets will give them free entry to next Tuesday's home match, effectively giving fans two games for £10. Season Ticket holders will get a free ticket to bring a friend.

Grimsby striker Danny North has been named the Player of the Month for League Two. Kidderminster lost £33,459 in the previous season. That loss does not include the Wembley final money that is still to be paid, which will push the club well into profit. They also made a small profit the year before.

Ex-Bull John Grant has extended his Aldershot contract until the summer of 2010. The 26 year old has averaged a goal every other game for the Shots, and was out of contract in the summer. Brentford have received an apology from the Football League for the late postponement of their match at Accrington two weeks ago. The FL statement indicates that Accrington should have called the match referee in the night before the game.

Quiet Midweek for League Two

There are just three mid-week matches in League Two, all tomorrow evening, and none of them feature teams currently in the promotion positions.

Bury v Stockport
Macclesfield v Lincoln City
Rochdale v Barnet

The Rochdale game is probably the most interesting to Hereford United supporters. If they win they will move up to sixth place in the League two points below the Bulls who travel to Rochdale next Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile Hereford United play Ledbury Town tommorrow evening at 7.30pm in the HFA Senior Cup. No details are yet available from the club about prices and which turnstiles will be open but it is assumed that they will be the same as published for the original date of the game back in October. They were £5 for adults and £2 for concessions with just the main stand open.

Finally the Youth team lost 3-0 at Cheltenham last Saturday.

Referees announced for next two Hereford Games

Rob Lewis from Shropshire will be in charge of Saturday's game at Edgar Street against Dagenham and Redbridge.

Scott Mathieson from Cheshire will be the man in black at Rochdale next Tuesday when Hereford United are the visitors.

Lewis has only had three games this season to date but last season he was in charge of the Hereford away game at Notts County.

When the Bulls were in the Conference they usually met up with Lewis twice or even three times a season.

Mathieson has been in the middle for 24 games already this season and has given out 51 yellow but only one red card so far.

Last season he refereed at Edgar Street when Accrington were the opponents and Hereford also met up with him at Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup.

Robinson In Team Of The Week

Theo Robinson has been named in the League Two Team of the Week.

He is the seventh Bull to be named for the award. He is named alongside two players each from Bradford and MK Dons.

Knill Named As Bury Boss

Alan Knill has been named as the new manager of Bury.

The former Rotherham boss leaves his assistant manager job at Chesterfield to take the job at the Shakers, where he was a player for four years. He spent nearly two years in charge at Rotherham in two spells, winning 20 of 74 games, and was dismissed as they headed for League One relegation.

Caretaker boss Chris Brass had hoped for the job but he gained only one point from nine in the League, culminating in their 5-1 loss to MK Dons at the weekend. Bury are currently just two points clear of the drop zone, and without a win in 11 League matches.

News Round Up

Barnet were rejected in a move for York striker Paul Brayson before he opted for Unibond side Gateshead. The England non-league international wanted regular first team football. Chester are looking to sign former Cardiff winger Kevin Cooper as a replacement for Kevin Ellison. The 32 year old was released last week having not played for the Bluebirds in 12 months.

Kidderminster are still awaiting monies from their FA Trophy final last May. Chairman Barry Norgrove told BBC Hereford and Worcester that Wembley were still to decide how much the game actually cost to hold there. Luton's Administrator has confirmed that he accepted a cash injection from prospective purchasers LTFC2020 to prevent any further player sales. The takeover is said still to be several weeks away.

Exeter's disgraced former Directors John Russell and Mike Lewis have been banned from football for life. Russell, currently in jail for fraudulent trading over his time at St James Park, failed to respond to the FA charges while Lewis, who received community service for his part, admitted his charge. Both bans can be reviewed after 10 years although neither are likely to ever work in football again.

Hereford Supporter on 6-0-6

A Hereford United supporter was one of the callers to Alan Green's 6-0-6 programme on Five Live last evening.

'Steve' was travelling back from Rotherham when he made the call. He appeared to have been prompted to speak after a young lady had complained about paying £15 at Dagenham and Redbridge. Here's a part of what was said.

"She should have come to Rotherham. It was £20 but Hereford United won 1-0," said Steve.

"Twenty Quid?" asked Green.

"I mentioned to a guy why it was so expensive. There's a scrap merchant right next to the ground and he wanted to buy the ground and is charging them £16,000 a month for rent. Hence why we're paying £20."

Green admitted that he doesn't watch much football "at your level but the arguement is continually made that it is far more enjoyable. Is that how you view it?"

"When we were in the Conference it was a different level of support. You had the comradeship of all the supporters and now back in the Second Division - we went into a pub before the game with the Rotherham guys and had a chit-chat all about the lower levels as opposed to the Premiership.

"We were a bit disappointed last weekend when there was Manchester City and Chelsea on the telly. If only Havant and Waterville had been on. Everyone sees the top guys all the time.

"Just to see the lower leagues sometimes and the players and the fans - what it means to these lower leagues clubs to be involved in the FA Cup.

"We're all football supporters. I think of the depth of feeling in lower leagues where you do really get behind the club. You've got a feeling you're part of the football club.

"Alex Ferguson wouldn't know me from Adam but if Graham Turner sees me it's 'Hi Steve.'"

Shrewsbury Game All Ticket

It has been confirmed that Hereford United's away game at Shrewsbury Town will be all ticket for all supporters. The match takes place on Saturday Feb 23rd with a 3pm kick-off.

Shrewsbury have already started selling tickets for the game and Hereford United are expected to start to sell their allocation later this week. It has not yet been revealed how many tickets Hereford will receive but the away stand is understood to hold 1774 supporters. The highest attendance at Shrewsbury this season so far is 7707 which occured when Stockport County were the visitors.

Shrewsbury have stressed that there will be no sale of tickets on the day but their ticket office will be open until late on the previous day (Friday 22nd).

Meanwhile because parking is not very easy close to the new stadium, it is expected that many Hereford United supporters will travel to this game by train or coach.

There are trains leaving Hereford at 10.24, 10.56, 11.56, 12.28, and 12.56. The journey takes under an hour. It should be noted that the ground is some way from the station at Shrewsbury, however buses are usually available.

HUMADS have already booked three coaches and have a handful of spaces remaining. Two of the coaches will start at Malvern (10.30am) and a third at Ross (also 10.30am). All three will leave Legends at 11.30am. Cost £7. Call Reg for further information on 01684 572945 or 07958176937.

As yet no information is available from HUISA or the FUNBUS.

Solid at the Back - Turner

A few words from Graham Turner's post match press conference after yesterday's game at Rotherham as reported by Sportinglife.

"I thought we defended magnificently. They kept coming at us but we were solid at the back," said the Hereford United manager.

"We've had a tough few weeks and needed a win. That puts us back in it.

"If we can continue to take points like that from the leading sides we'll have a good chance, because I thought it was a very strong performance."

Wanted - Home Help

Mike Margetts asks why clubs in League Two, in particular Hereford United, are doing so well on their travels and dropping points at home.

Any Hereford United supporter glancing down the list of League Two results on Saturday evening would, of course, have derived great pleasure from seeing the score line at Millmoor – another excellent win away from home for The Bulls.

But it would not only have been Bulls fans celebrating victory on the road: incredibly NINE of the 12 matches ended in the visitors claiming all three points.

Now although this was obviously a severe case of ‘home sickness’ it also underlines an unusual trend in League Two this season. A study of the current table shows that no fewer than 11 of the 24 clubs have prospered more on their travels than in their own backyards.

Given the benefit of history and the perceived wisdom that it’s generally more profitable to play at home, it does, inevitably, beg the question why. And why is the phenomenon apparently exclusive to League Two?

In the Premiership, for instance, just three clubs (Liverpool, Blackburn and Portsmouth) have performed better on their travels, in the Championship the figure is four (Watford, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Colchester) while in League One it’s three (Walsall, Oldham and Bristol Rovers).

In the Blue Square Premier the total rises to five – still significantly short of the League Two total. So what does it all mean?

It would appear that League Two is populated by clubs who, for one reason or another, are able to soak up the pressure as home teams push forward and then break out in swift counter attacks to score the goals that claim the points. But surely that’s too simplistic…or is it?

Certainly there will be many managers and coaches (Messrs Turner and Trewick included) who will be wrestling with the problem over the next few weeks as the season builds towards its climax.

And the way things are shaping up it is almost certain that the teams who can most quickly overcome their indifferent home results will be the ultimate promotion and play-off contenders.

Come on Hereford – let’s make sure that on Saturday Dagenham are the first to feel the force…

We haven't taken our chances - Robins

Mark Robins, the Rotherham manager, was disappointed that his team failed to take any points from the game against Hereford United yesterday.

"I am frustrated but I don't think we could have done much more without scoring as we created chances but missed them again," Robins told his Official Website.

"That's the frustrating part as in the first half we dominated while they had one chance that ended up in the back of the net. We were poor in terms of defending that attack but apart from that we did all right, everything else was straight forward.

"They defended deep and we got decent width from the full backs in the second half and the only thing that was lacking was the end product. As in the past we haven't taken our chances.

"If the three lads up front had been on song in the first half we would have murdered them as we had a lot of the play.

"We just didn't stick the knife in at the end and it's the first time we have back to back losses so it's MK Dons away next week, they are good games. Our games against the teams around us are in a cluster so we will see how we come out of them."

Bulls' Target Ellison Joins Hatters

Bulls' transfer target Kevin Ellison has agreed a deal to join Stockport County on loan until the end of the season.

The former Tranmere winger agreed a deal earlier today, with a permanent deal agreed for the summer. He will have to serve his ban for being dismissed in his last Chester appearance before returning to the club he represented between 2001 and 2004.

Ellison, 28, signed a three year contract in the summer for what is reputed to be a record fee for Chester. No details on the fee for his move to the Hatters has been disclosed.

Nice new stand - when it's finished

Rotherham's ground, known as Millmoor, is a mixture of old and new. And the new may be quite impressive when it's finished.

But at present the whole ground looks like as though a stand or part of a stand has been added every twenty years or so.

Hereford United supporters were housed in half of an old gently sloping stand known as the railway end. The entrance to the stand was down a small lane which bordered a scrap merchants and some disused rusty buildings.

Whilst the supporters were able to create a lot of noise and atmosphere, the way the stand sloped meant that they were a long way from the pitch. It was quite dificult to see all the action at the far end. Totally different to the away stand at Bradford for example which despite being old allowed supporters an excellent view of the game.

Meanwhile full marks should go to the Rotherham stewards who were both friendly and helpful. The Yorkshire police, out in large numbers, were also on good form. And the coffee was 30p cheaper than at Edgar Street.

Finally Hereford United adult supporters were charged £20 to watch this afternoon's game. One wag suggested that the price was so high because Rotherham need every penny they can find to finish their new stand which is rumoured to be costing anything between £4 and £7 million.

UPDATE: It appears that the scrap yard is owned by the same person who owns the ground. The club is talking about a move as the rent he is charging the club is about £4,000 a week. The new stand may never be completed.

We need the rest - Trewick

John Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester that his squad needs a rest. The first team don't play again until next Saturday although the fringe players will turn out for a local cup game against Ledbury on Tuesday evening.

"We've got a game against Ledbury on Tuesday in the Hereford Senior Cup so it will be a chance for one or two of our players to get a game in that.

"We need to rest ourselves as well as anything else because we've had a hectic programme. We've got a hectic programme coming up as well.

"By the time we get to Tuesday we'll get thinking about the game next weekend and start preparing for that."

Collins has bruised foot

Lee Collins, playing right full back this afternoon, was subbed at half-time because of a bruised foot. He should be back in action by next weekend.

"He kicked the bottom of somebody's boot and when you kick the studs on your foot it's very very sore so he's got a bruised foot," said coach John Trewick speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"Given three or four days rest and a little bit of treatment, I think he should be okay."

Trewick said that the defenders had been encouraged to go forward when possible and a run by Lee Collins had resulted in the goal scored by Gary Hooper.

"We told them when we had good possession to go forward and try and create something.

"I thought Lee timed his run well down the right flank, he put the ball in and we made it count."

Robins' Rotherham beaten by Bulls

The Bulls claimed a priceless away victory at Rotherham this afternoon courtesy of a Gary Hooper strike just before half-time. The home side, who were second in the table before hand failed to convert a hand of good chances in the second half after Hooper had netted from close-range. The win signals the end of three straight defeats for Hereford and gets the promotion chase back on track.

After the disappointing defeat against Barnet in mid-week, Graham Turner decided to shuffle things around. In particular, the back-line was changed with John McCombe and Richard Rose replacing Trent McClenahan and Karl Broadhurst, who was dropped altogether. Clint Easton also made the starting line-up, with Sam Gwynne making way. The return of the winger was a huge boost for The Bulls. Experienced goalkeeper Andy Warrington started for Rotherham, as did former Leicester youngster Chris O’Grady.

The home side started the game the better of the two sides, but failed to muster up any clear-cut chances. Mark Hudson’s rising shot failed to trouble Wayne Brown, whilst a powerful snapshot by O’Grady went past the left-hand post. Hereford’s first opportunity came from a Simon Johnson in-swinging free-kick, Theo Robinson got the faintest of touches to the cross and the ball fell just past the far post. Former Derby trainee Pablo Mills struck wide after a quick-throw in from the right, whilst Dale Tonge’s crossing caused problems throughout, with Hudon meeting one but Brown made a routine catch.

Hereford began to grow into the game as the half progressed, with Johnson shooting after collecting from Ben Smith, but Warrington watched it all the way, and held despite a slight nick off a defender. A counter-attack by United led to Robinson playing a one-two with Easton, before scuffing a shot wide from a decent position just outside the box. Ryan Taylor’s long-range effort trickled through to Brown, before The Bulls took the lead. A ball inside found Robinson who passed first-time down the right-hand side which was met by a forward run of young Lee Collins. The Wolves loanee set himself before crossing low into Hooper, who diverted the ball goal wards from six yards and found the back of the net, despite Warrington’s best efforts.

Both sides made subs at half-time; for Rotherham, powerful target man Derek Holmes replaced Taylor, whilst Collins failed to come out for the second half after picking up a knock and McClenahan came on in his place. A Tonge cross wasn’t cleared fully, and the ball fell to Danny Harrison but his strike rose harmlessly over the bar. Rotherham looked dangerous in and around the box, with neat flicks causing Beckwith and McCombe problems. O’Grady laid off for the onrushing Mills but the defensive midfielders strike was parried by Brown. Marc Newsham was replaced by Jamie Yates, after the winger failed to give Rose much of a problem.

The best chances of the second half for either side came within a minute of each other. Firstly, The Bulls counter-attacking football caused Rotherham all sorts of problems, and Johnson’s pass up the line to Robinson allowed the Watford youngster to get a run at the defence. He managed to beat two men and get a run-in on goal, but he dragged his shot past the far post, when he looked like he was going to double the advantage. For Rotherham, Hudson flicked over the head of Beckwith but like Robinson did, O’Grady dragged his shot past the post from a good position. O’Grady then tried his luck from much further out but again failed to hit the target. Mills then replicated his earlier chance, this time meeting a pass from Yates but again Brown denied his powerful strike with a good block.

Hereford were being put under pressure but still looked threatening on the break. Johnson played an excellent cross-field ball to Robinson, who again got a run-in on goal. However, he struck early with a half-volley and Warrington was forced to make a diving save. Mills tried his luck once more with his shot going wide, whilst O’Grady got past McClenahan on the right-hand side before driving a shot past the far post. Ian Ross replaced Mills as Rotherham continued to look for a change which would make the difference. Stephen Brogan’s free-kick was wasteful from 20 yards before Trevor Benjamin replaced goalscorer Hooper for the short period remaining. Tonge’s deep cross saw Holmes rise above McCombe, and his header went close as it struck the top of the bar. Minutes later, Rotherham hit the bar again. This time, Yates sent a controlled curling effort goal wards, and Brown thought it was harmless, but it also struck the top of the woodwork. The last-chance came in stoppage time, when a header by Harrison from a Holmes cross was easily held by Brown.

The victory was well greeted by the travelling army in a crowd of 4,746, and allows Hereford to get back to winning ways. Although Rotherham had plenty of chances, Hereford defended well and looked relatively comfortable throughout. The partnership of McCombe and Beckwith was excellent and both complimented each other’s game, whilst Hooper’s goal will give the striker much confidence. Next up for Hereford in the league is a home game against lowly Dagenham; a game The Bulls must surely win if they are to maintain a promotion push. There is also a mid-week Herefordshire Senior Cup game against Ledbury, where fringe players are likely to get a run out.

Hereford: Brown, Collins, Beckwith, McCombe, Rose, Johnson, Diagouraga, Smith, Easton, Hooper, Robinson.

Subs: Ingham, McClenahan, Taylor, Gwynne, Benjamin.

Rotherham: Warrington, Tonge, Coughlan, Sharps, Brogan, Newsham, Mills, Harrison, Hudson, Taylor, O’Grady.

Subs: O‘Donnell, Joseph, Ross, Yates, Holmes.

Another Eight for Beckwith

Hereford United's Dean Beckwith (pictured leading out the team) put in another good performance at Rotherham this afternoon and was given an eight for hard work. Once again he was at the heart of the Bulls defence, this time partnered by John McCombe who made a welcome return to the side.

McCombe, scorer Hooper and Collins, who was subbed due to injury at half-time, all received a seven.

Possession-wise the Millers were deemed to have had 54% against 46% for the Bulls.

The Bulls had five shots on target against just two for Rotherham. However the Millers did hit the woodwork twice.

Clint Easton was booked for unsporting behaviour.

The attendance was 4746 with 233 from Hereford.

Hereford United remain in fifth position but have closed the gap on second-placed Darlington to just one point.

1 Milton Keynes Dons 30 29 61
2 Darlington 28 27 53
3 Rotherham 29 15 53
4 Peterborough 28 23 52
5 Hereford 28 15 52
6 Wycombe 30 9 50
7 Chesterfield 30 16 48

Preview: Bulls vs Ledbury

The Bulls entertain Ledbury Town on Tuesday for a HFA Cup match has been six months in the making.

The fixture was originally announced in early August, and initially scheduled for mid October before heavy rain forced it's cancellation. Confirmation on admission prices is yet to come from the club, but the plan for the October date was for only the Merton Stand to be open with prices set at £5 and £2.

The Bulls will field what will basically be a reserve side. With Steve Guinan and Luke Webb suffering setbacks in their returns from injury neither are expected to appear, but it is expected to be the first Bulls appearance for winger Jack MacLeod. Marcus Palmer, who scored against Ledbury in last season's competition, and Jordan Fitzpatrick are expected to play as they did in last year's final.

In that game last April the Bulls fielded just two of the previous weekend's starting line-up, lifting the cup with a 3-0 victory in front of around 400 supporters with Stuart Fleetwood and Sam Gwynne scoring the others.

Ledbury play in the Premier Division of the West Midlands League, a competiton won by Hereford United Reserves in it's previous guise in 1950. They lie just two places off the bottom but thrashed fellow strugglers Bustleholme 5-1 today to move clear of bottom club Bromyard Town. They have conceded 69 goals in 29 league games so far this season, but have tightened their defence dramatically in recent weeks.

Hereford United vs Ledbury Town, Edgar Street, Tuesday 5th February, 7.30pm.

League Two Results Round-Up

MK Dons got back to winning ways with a 5-1 demolition of sorry Bury. Mark Wright scored a hat-trick to leave the Shakers with just two points from eleven games. Darlington retain second place despite losing 2-0 at Wrexham, who move off the bottom of the table. Peterboro retained fourth place with a 2-0 win at Rochdale, who are replaced in the play-off zone by Wycombe who won at Accrington 2-0 - in front of just 1,200. Chesterfield drew 1-1 with Chester.

Down the bottom, Mansfield drop to the bottom of the table after losing 3-2 to Brentford. New signings scored for both sides, with Nathan Elder scoring at both ends and Jefferson Louis also scoring on his debut. Lincoln beat Shrewsbury 2-1 to move away from the drop zone, but Dagenham lost 1-0 at home to Stockport to be just two points clear of the trapdoor.

In other games Morecambe won at Barnet 1-0, Bradford beat Macclesfield 1-0, and Notts County and Grimsby drew 1-1.

Bulls Scrape Past Millers

The Bulls beat Rotherham by the only goal of the game in today's League Two match at Millmoor.

Gary Hooper's first goal for the Bulls just before half time was against the run of play, and the Millers will feel disappointed to not take anything from this game. Results today see the Bulls remain in fifth but within a point of second place.

Full report later.

Rotherham Match is On

Steve Evans in Trouble again

Steve Evans, formerly of Boston and currently plying his trade as manager at Crawley, is in trouble again.

Crawley played at Woking last Saturday and Steve Evans was sent to the stands.

Woking's chairman Mr David Taylor, has sent a letter of formal complaint to the Football Association in 'regard to the language, behaviour and post-match remarks in regard to officials of Woking Football Club by Mr S Evans, Manager of Crawley Town Football Club. Woking Football Club, as a family orientated club, takes the above very seriously and awaits a response from the Football Association'.

The Argus adds that "Steve Evans has been charged by the Football Association for his behaviour during last Saturday's game at Woking. He has been punished for improper conduct after being sent from the dug-out for the fourth time this season. Evans was escorted off the pitch by police officers as he tried to confront the referee, swore at fans and directors in the stand and accused Woking boss Frank Gray of conspiring with the match officials. He has until February 15 to respond to the charge. Evans was fined £500 earlier this season after being sent to the stand during a game against Altrincham".

Turner likely to use Loan Market

Hereford United manager Graham Turner has told the Worcester News that he may use the loan market after the disappointment of not bringing any fresh faces yesterday, transfer deadline day. The emergency loan window continues until March 23rd.

"The loan window is very important for clubs like us," said Turner.

"I could have brought in players but there was no need to panic and fill spaces because I'm not unhappy with the squad I have here."

Bulls News/Bulls Banter

After accusations today made by Graham Turner of Hereford United, Bulls News wishes to make clear that there is no connection between the ownership, management and administration of these two websites. Whilst most of the contributors to Bulls News do, from time to time, post on the Bulls Banter football forum, they do so as individuals entirely separate from Bulls News. The contributors to Bulls News are in no way involved in the moderation of the forum known as Bulls Banter.

Meanwhile Graham Turner has released the following statement on the Official Hereford United Website:

Club Chairman and Manager Graham Turner has released a statement regarding a thread on an un-official Hereford United forum.

Once again I find myself in conflict with certain contributors to an Unofficial Forum. I can take any amount of criticism of my ability as Manager, or even as Chairman, but I will not tolerate abuse of my family members.

A posting attributed to “Rich Tea” has caused great offence and distress. I have spoken to two friends of his who have refused to reveal his name, presumably because they have some sort of principles.

I understand that the poster travels on the so-called fun bus. Make no mistake about it, I shall find out who the person is responsible for this filth, which he thinks is a joke.

Any information would be greatly received

UPDATE 6.15pm: "Rich Tea" has apologised to Graham Turner and asked 'if we could now draw a line under the matter'.

Butler turns down move to Bulls

Grimsby Town striker Martin Butler has turned down a move to Hereford United. The former Walsall Town player lives in Worcester and was finding travelling to Grimsby difficult.

However he is currently unable to play.

"He's gone to Lilleshall for a couple of weeks. He's not injured, it is the travelling that makes him very uncomfortable," said Grimsby manager Alan Buckley.

"He can't train so we've got a vicious circle going around that at the moment. We will be working to try and solve the problem."

We Missed Two Players - Turner

Graham Turner has told the Worcester News that Hereford United missed out on two players that he had hoped would strengthen his squad.

"We had an offer accepted by a club and the player has turned us down. He wanted to stay at his club. We had another loan player lined up but he got injured playing for a Championship side's reserves on Wednesday," said Turner.

Turner also spoke about the current poor form of the Bulls.

"We have got to stop the rot. Most sides will have a difficult period as MK Dons are finding out.

"We have got to keep things in perspective and make sure there are no panic measures but it's a big game for us.

"We have got a difficult game at Rotherham but it may just be something we need."
