Council Agrees Market Deal

Today’s meeting of Cabinet at Herefordshire Council gave the green light for minor changes to the agreement which will unlock the £90 million regeneration of Hereford’s former livestock market.

Herefordshire Council’s cabinet was asked to give its final stamp of approval to a deal which will pave the way for work on the £90 million regeneration of the Old Market site which is opposite the Edgar Street football ground.

The development includes two new open streets, a public square, 600 new parking spaces, restaurants and a six-screen cinema.

Once the principal building contractor has been appointed, tenders will go out for trade packages worth around £45 million as well as packages of work to fit out each of the retail and catering units once they are let. Local firms will be encouraged to tender for much of this work.

Plans are well advanced for the promotion of a series of training courses for people wishing to work in the 1,000 retail, catering and hospitality jobs created once the development opens.

Several councillors refused to take in the part of the meeting which approved the deal.

Bulls 9/5 To Win Tomorrow

The price available for a Hereford United win over Plymouth tomorrow afternoon has slightly increased since earlier this week. The best offer is currently 9/5 and that's with William Hill and BetVictor.

Top price for a draw is 9/5 with Stan James and Ladbrooks.

Latest Offer from SkyBet:

Hereford 13/8 Draw 23/10 Plymouth 12/5

Clucas Available Tomorrow

Hereford United manager Richard O'Kelly has said that Sam Clucas will be available for tomorrow's game against Plymouth.

"Sam Clucas will be back in the squad," O'Kelly told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"Dan Hanford will be available as well so that's two extra bodies which is good going into this busy period.

"Bruno (Benoit Dailbard) has come back into training this last week and worked very hard. Might be too early for him tomorrow.

"We have an extra day's rest as we play on Friday/Monday as opposed to Saturday/Monday and we're greatful for that.

"But we have a fair old jaunt to Accrington Stanley."

HUISA – Accy and Barnet

Free coach travel is being provided to both games.

Departure to Accrington is set for 8.30am on Monday with a 2.00pm departure for Barnet on Friday.

Coaches will leave from outside Radford's and seats can be booked in Radford's prior to the Plymouth match or through the Club office (08442 761939).

Bulls Looking For Some Birthday Cheer

After a few disappointing results, several Bulls players will be looking for three points as late Birthday presents.

Along with David Cornell and Benoit Dalibard, who both turned 21 last week, defender Ben Purkiss turned 28 on Sunday, and striker Nathan Elder turned 27 today.

Elder won League Two with Brentford just three years ago, but by the time the title was lifted his season was over after being given a fractured eye socket by then Rotherham defender Pablo Mills at the Don Valley Stadium that threatened his entire career.

The challenge resulted in a two night hospital stay for the striker, and the loss of sight in his left eye for several weeks, but not even a yellow card for the defender whose recent actions with Crawley have brought national headlines. Mills is currently scheduled to return from his current ban before the Bulls' trip to face Crawley, but a further ban is expected after he received an additional FA charge.

Two more Bulls celebrate their birthdays in April, with both Yoann Arquin and Delroy Facey hoping for their presents to be gift-wrapped by the opposition defences.

Fletcher Fancies His Strikers

Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher believes he has enough firepower in his squad to steer the Pilgrims away from danger. He told the press:

"We've got five strikers and all of them are vying to play, they all want to play and all want to score goals. It's great for me to have the competition for places. They all bring something different which is what I'm pleased with."

The rookie boss singled Preston loan man Juvhel Tsoumou for extra praise after he opened his Pilgrims account with the winner against Bradford last weekend. Of the youngster, Fletcher said:

"Wottsy put in a good ball and Juvhel was free in the box, but he still had to finish it. It was a good header. I was pleased for him because he worked hard up front on his own at Northampton, and in the last couple of games you can see he has grown in confidence. He's still young, but he's big and strong and he's quick,

"I'm pleased he scored because that's what strikers like to do and it breeds confidence."

Fletcher also has experience in his frontline with former Bull Nick Chadwick and Bournemouth loanee Steve Fletcher along with youngsters Alex MacDonald, Jared Sims, and Matt Lecointe.

On the injury front, only loanee winger Joe Lennox is reported to have missed training through illness.

News Round-Up

Wimbledon boss Terry Brown wants loan pair Billy Knott and George Moncur to stay with the club next term. Knott, from Sunderland, and Moncur, from West Ham, joined the club in January on loan and have helped drag the side out of danger. Barnet have extended the loans of striker Scott McGleish and defender Sead Hajrovic until the end of the season. Hajrovic has been given the all-clear after the injury he suffered on Tuesday was not deemed to be serious. Boss Lawrie Sanchez has also recalled utility man Mauro Vilhete from his loan spell at Boreham Wood.

Accrington have quit their training base at Blackburn rugby club as the pitches are not up to scratch. They are now using the local college for the remainder of the season. Luton are reported by Sky Sports to have offered their managerial vacancy to Paul Buckle. Overnight, the board were reported to have identified two serious candidates for the job.

Port Vale boss Micky Adams says one of his players has agreed a contract elsewhere next season. The unnamed player is one of 20 out of contact at Vale Park this summer, with Adams unable to offer new deals with the club in Administration. Crewe striker AJ Leitch-Smith has rejected the club's offer of a new 12 month deal, but remains in negotiation with the club. The 22 year old has scored six times in 35 games this season.

Wrexham manager Andy Morrell and assistant Billy Barr have signed new deals with the club running to the summer of 2014. Morrell has also agreed a deal to remain as a player for next season as well. Burton are expected to lose the services of former Bulls winger Lionel Ainsworth after tomorrow's matches with Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner saying the player will return to them afterwards.

Wycombe owner Steve Hayes has been revealed to have been one of two people arrested by Police in February as they investigated claims of computer hacking at News International. He remains on bail.

Home Form Has Been Appalling Admits Chairman Keyte

Hereford United chairman David Keyte has said that the home form has been so appalling this season that has led to less takings which in turn has put pressure on the club's budget.

"You can't expect to go through a season having lost 13 times at home and not be where we are," Keyte told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"In the last ten days we've started to look at the financial impact of relegation. We haven't thought we needed to before, we haven't dared to, but realities surround us.

"On Football League funding alone we would start £400,000 down on this season.

"The local supporters have voted with their feet and told us what they thought which has left us about £130,000 short of our budget which has to be funded.

"As a board we're trying to take the club forward so we've also funded things like the new supporters club which has been well received with good takings. But that's cost £300,000.

"The board has put a lot of money in this year but we've been let down by the performances out on the pitch.

"It's not a tenable position.

"Like supporters who decide if they want to come and watch the football, directors look at whether it's the right thing to be in.

"I still think it was never going to be sorted in under four to five years in terms of the developments that would actually help the financial income streams.

"The fact is you have to link medium term, longer term plans with the fact that there is a game every Saturday.

"You have to hope because sadly like the spectators I can't get out on the pitch and do anything about it. You sit in the stand and watch it and believe that the management has got it right and believe the players are good enough, which I actually still do.

"But we are not turning it into results and that brings other pressures which deflects the longer term plans."

From The Archives - Rock Stars Support Bulls

Seldom in Hereford United's history has there been a time when it hasn't been looking for extra funding.

Here's an article from April 4th 1998:

HEREFORD have beaten the transfer deadline - to sign up some of the biggest names in rock music.

Simple Minds, Debbie Harry and Chrissie Hynde have all joined the Bulls `support band' by becoming members of the Hereford United Independent Supporters Association (HUISA).

Spurred on by Bulls fan Stan Tippins, tour manager for Simple Minds, they have donated cash to the Save our Football team campaign. Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, of Simple Minds, donated five figure sums.

Crewe Report Record Loss

Crewe have reported a near £1million loss for last season, the club accounts have revealed.

The Railwaymen lost £962,736 last season, adding to a loss of over £800,000 the season before. Footballing income slumped after the club failed to sell any players during the season, and commercial income was cut by a third, but they cut the wage bill by £300,000 partly by axeing 40 matchday staff members from the previous season.

The accounts warn that the club's ability to continue as a going concern is reliant on loans from it's directors. During the year the Gresty Road ground and surrounding land and car park were 'demerged' from the football club, although it is not entirely clear quite how the club benefitted from the move.

Vale Administrator Names Preferred Bidder

Port Vale fans are mimicking owls after responding to the announcement of the club's preferred bidder with a resounding 'Who?'

Vale's Administrator has named Keith Ryder as the man in pole position to take over the club. A statement says he is now due to deposit a non-refundable sum to secure that status and that they could hold a CVA meeting before the end of the month.

Ryder is reported to work in financial services and property development, but little is known so far about him or any details of his bid. He was unable to attend today's announcement but says he will meet fans in two weeks time to discuss the bid.

Barnet Boss Feeling The Pressure

Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez refused to speak to the press after last night's loss to Swindon.

The former Northern Ireland manager shunned the traditional post-match press conference after the Bees extended their current run of form to just seven points from a possible 39, after they won all four of their matches in January.

They have not scored in their last three matches, with top scorer Izale McLeod netting just three goals from open play in 2012. Before the game, Sanchez told the press he was less concerned about results against the bigger teams:

“I worry more with us playing Hereford here rather than Swindon, Torquay, Cheltenham and Crawley. The players know they have to step up in those games but the Dagenham & Redbridge match we did not play as well as we could do"

Fans have started calling for Sanchez to quit, with the Downhill Second Half blog giving a stark assessment of his side after last night's loss:

'I at the very least expect to see some sort of belief or fight, but tonight I saw absolutely nothing. Do we look like a club who is ready to take on the fight against relegation? Do me a favour. On nights like this, we are completely doomed.'

News Round-Up

Peterboro say they have agreed to sign Wrexham defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival when his contract expires in the summer. The 25 year old can leave on a free, but the Dragons say they are disappointed that The Posh have chosen to announce the news now. Bradford say their precarious League position has affected season ticket sales. Co-Chairman Mark Lawn says there 'hasn't been a great uptake so far' due to their uncertain position, but the club will not be axeing manager Phil Parkinson.

Shrewsbury loanee David McAllister will not play for the club again this season after his appeal against his red card was rejected. He will now be suspended for the remaining three matches of his loan spell. Chesterfield chairman Barrie Hubbard has announced his retirement from the role after nearly 30 years on the club's board. Former Sheff Weds chief Dave Allen is expected to take over.

Aldershot have allowed loanee Michael Doughty to return to QPR as they settle for a mid-table spot in the League. The teenager played five times in his month at the Rec. Northwich are waiting to know if they will have a league place next season after a proposed groundshare at Skelmersdale was rejected as the ground was not up to scratch. The local press is also reporting today that the club has failed to meet the terms of it's CVA, and could be forced into bankruptcy because of it.

Welsh Premier leaders TNS have been refused a licence to play in the division next season over ground grading issues. They intend to appeal the decision and are confident of securing agreement. Neath, who are third, have also been refused a licence over their financial state. Stockport could end up paying more to use Edgeley Park next season after co-tenants Sale Sharks announced plans to move to the home of rugby league side Salford on a 25 year deal. The two sides had previously been sharing costs at the ground.

Crewe have announced a freeze on matchday prices for next season. Bristol Rovers have announced a freeze on early-bird season tickets, but are yet to decide whether to increase prices for next season. Hartlepool are to retain their cheap season tickets for next season, but with a small price rise. Adult tickets will rise to £155 from £100 if bought before the end of July, before rising to over £350.

Burton caretaker boss Gary Rowett has confirmed he wants the job full time. The former Derby defender has overseen a win, loss, and draw in his three games and is currently the bookies' odds-on favourite for the job. Portsmouth's Supporters Trust say they will need to raise £8million to buy the club. They say they have already had 'hundreds' of applications for their share scheme and they have a month to decide whether their scheme is viable.

Cardiff City central defender Alex Evans who recently was on trial with Hereford United is now trying to obtain a deal at St Johnstone. Crawley have stripped defender Pablo Mills of the club captaincy after his part in their mass brawl against Bradford. Mills, who is also waiting on a further FA charge, Claude Davis, and Kyle McFadzean have all been fined two weeks wages by the club.

Langford in charge of Plymouth Match

Oliver Langford from the West Midlands is set to take charge of this coming Friday afternoon's match at Edgar Street where Plymouth are the visitors.

Langford has already refereed a Hereford game this season. That was at Shrewsbury last September. The Bulls lost 3-1 despite Langford sending off Terry Gornell.

Last season he officiated at Cheltenham where the Bulls won 3-0 and later at Edgat Street when the Bulls draw 0-0 with Wycombe.

The season before he took charge of the game between Barnet and Hereford which was a goal-less draw.

No Hereford player was booked in either of the four games.

To date this campaign Langford has been in charge of 34 games in which he has given out 94 yellow cards and 9 red cards.

Swindon Beat Barnet

Swindon beat Barnet 2-0 in tonight's only League Two match.

Goals from Ronan Murray and Oliver Risser were sufficient for the Bees to sacrifice their game in hand over the Bulls without any reward. Striker Izale McLeod, with just one goal in ten games, was reported to have stormed straight down the tunnel after his substitution after another frustrating night in front of goal.

Just 1,400 home fans watched the match at Underhill, with 800 travelling from Wiltshire.

Elsewhere tonight, Bath will - barring any end of season shenanigans - be relegated from the Conference after Newport beat York City 2-1. That result also means that Fleetwood Town and Wrexham are now guaranteed to hold the top two spots at the end of the season.

In the other Conference game, Harry Pell started for Cambridge and had a hand in the goal as they beat Lincoln 1-0 at Sincil Bank.

When Nathan Met Darren

Bulls striker Nathan Elder will get a chance to be reunited with Plymouth defender Darren Purse on Friday.

Former Cardiff man Purse was dismissed for a lunge on Elder in the reverse fixture, but the two men saw the event very differently. Purse, with manager Carl Fletcher pondering an appeal at the time, told the press he felt Elder had over-exaggerated the challenge:

"I think their lad has gone down quite easy, and he screamed and shouted for something I didn't catch him with. But, at the end of the day, when you make tackles like that, it gives the referee the opportunity to do what he has done.

"If you're going to make tackles, you've got to win the ball. Nowadays, there are players who will go down and scream as though they have been shot to get people sent off, but that's football."

Elder saw it differently, however. When shown Purse's comments, he responded: "He almost snapped my ankle in half. Can't lunge in like that & stay on the pitch."

Even Plymouth fans tended to agree with the striker after the video replays were aired, and an appeal was never forthcoming.

Crawley Build A Stand In A Week

Crawley have complied with a deadline to increase their ground capacity by building a new grandstand - in just a week.

The new East Stand has been built on a former terrace at the ground, holds just over 2,100, and cost £1million. It has been constructed after nearly a year on the drawing board, with the club having a May 1st Football League deadline to improve their ground after winning promotion last summer.

The stand is of basic construction, with struts holding the roof up obstructing views along the length of the stand, but the 12 row structure has been built on a budget with half the funding coming from a grant.

Sanchez Wants 9 Points As Bees Face Swindon

Barnet face Swindon tonight for their game in hand on the Bulls with manager Lawrie Sanchez believing his side need nine points from their remaining games.

The Bees face four of the top seven as part of their seven remaining matches, with Sanchez telling their official site they need nine points to achieve safety:

"I think that we need some 9 points from our remaining games. We have a tough run-in though with Swindon, Cheltenham, Crawley and Southend all looking to win promotion, either automatically or via the play-offs"

The Bees will be looking for something out of tonight's fourth meeting with the Robins, the only League Two game before Friday's set of fixtures. Swindon won the reverse fixture 4-0 before beating the Bees 1-0 in the JPT area final second leg after a 1-1 draw at Underhill.

Barnet current sit in 22nd place in the table, four points ahead of the Bulls.

13 Football League Clubs In Poor Financial Health

In a survey carried out by administrators Begbies Traynor there is a suggestion that one in five Football League clubs are in 'poor financial health'.

Out of the 68 clubs surveyed, 13 have signs of distress such as serious court actions against them, including winding-up petitions, late filing of accounts and "serious" negative balances on their balance sheets.

That 19% compares to just 1% in the wider economy, the firm said.

The distressed clubs include three in the Championship, six in League One and four in League Two. They were not named.

"Many clubs are continuing to spend too much, principally on players' wages, as they always have done," said Gerald Krasner of Begbies Taylor.

"While Premier League clubs are guaranteed huge television money every year and some have extremely wealthy backers, there are signs of genuine financial distress among a significant number of football league clubs.

"The sales of season tickets for next season, many of which are paid for during April and May, could provide some short-term relief for struggling clubs, but it won't solve the underlying problems."

Whilst Hereford United is expected to have negative balance on their balance sheet when the current year's accounts are released it isn't thought that it will be classed as 'serious'.

New Poster Available For Plymouth Game

The club has produced another poster to help promote Friday's home game with Plymouth.

It is hoped that Bulls fans will print off and display the poster across the county to get a big crowd for the crunch game. The poster can be downloaded from the official site here.

Meanwhile, Addisons have a busy weekend in store. As well as Friday's game, they will be open all day on Saturday with two live football matches on the big screen during the afternoon before the Starlite Rooms host their first ever Cider Festival from 6pm.

Tickets for the festival are selling fast, priced at just £5, and are available from the Club. There are 16 different ciders and perrys on offer, plus live music from Two Push Charlie and the resident DJ.

Addisons is also open all day on Sunday for two live Premier League matches through the afternoon, with the first match kicking off at 1.30pm.

Pell Earns Praise For Wing Role

Cambridge boss Jez George has praised loanee Bull Harry Pell after opting to deploy him in a wide wing role.

The central midfielder had played wide once before, for the Bulls, last season without much success, but George told the local press the former Bristol Rovers man did a good job during their draw with Wrexham:

"We wanted some more height in the team and to be strong in midfield. We’ve asked Harry to do something that’s a bit out of his comfort zone as he’s a central midfielder, but he did well and worked tremendously hard."

Pell is due to remain with the club for all but the Bulls' final two games of the season, and cannot be recalled beforehand.

News Round-Up

Crawley defender Kyle McFadzean has lost his appeal against the violent conduct charge for his part in the mass brawl last Tuesday. He will now serve a three match ban, but will be available again for the Bulls' visit to the Broadfield Stadium. The Red Devils have extended the loan of Bournemouth defender Warren Cummings until the end of the season. The 31 year old is out of contract in the summer and likely to be released.

Morecambe have released striker Phil Jevons with his deal originally due to expire at the end of the season. The former Huddersfield man, 32, scored 19 goals while on loan at the club in the 09/10 season, but only netted nine last season and five this term. Gillingham have lost the services of loan winger Jordan Obita after Reading turned down a request to extend the loan. The teenager scored three times in six games with the Gills.

No Bulls in the Team of the Week, with Rotherham, Plymouth, and Morecambe all getting two players each into the XI. The nominations for Player of the Month are Mickey Spillane (Dagenham), David Artell (Crewe), and Lee Mansell (Torquay). Nominations for Manager of the Month are Martin Ling (Torquay), Steve Davis (Crewe) , and Aidy Boothroyd (Northampton).

Port Vale's Administrator has confirmed that he has received five firm bids for the club, including one from former bidder Mo Chaudry. The Administrator has told the press two of the bids are front-runners, with the preferred bidder likely to be named tomorrow. Mansfield have announced that they will rebrand their Field Mill home as the One Call Stadium after owner John Radford's company. A club statement says the deal will allow additional finance to be provided to the club.

Bradford say they have admitted the charge of failing to control their players after last Tuesday's mass brawl. They have asked for a personal hearing to offer mitigation. Wimbledon boss Terry Brown says the club cannot afford to sign loanee Pim Balkestein in the summer due to his wage demands. Brown needs to sign a central defender but the Brentford man, a free agent in the summer, is out of his price range.

Discount Deal Offered For Bulls Ticket Holders

With tight finances across the country, the Bulls are offering a discount scheme for ticket holders for Friday's match with Plymouth at Edgar Street.

A local computer repair company is offering face-value discounts on production of tickets for Friday's crunch match, effectively offering fans their money back. Fans can watch Friday's match then exchange the used tickets for discounts on their laptop or desktop repair bills.

Details of the offer are on the official site here, with the offer open to both home and away fans.

Bookies Favour Bulls To Defeat Plymouth

Latest Offer from SkyBet:

Hereford 11/8 Draw 12/5 Plymouth 15/8

Best price for a Hereford win is 6/4 with BetFred.

Archive Footage Deal Agreed

The Football League and BBC Sport have appointed BBC Motion Gallery to digitise and license the rights to six decades of archived footage.

The deal, which runs until 2016, is the first of its kind in the UK where a sporting organisation and broadcaster have pooled their resources to create a joint archive.

The archive dates back to the 1950s and features iconic moments from the League Cup and priceless footage of vintage teams from the past sixty years, including the great Leeds United sides of the seventies, Liverpool's European Cup winners of the eighties through to Manchester United and Arsenal's double-winning teams of the nineties and noughties.

As part of the agreement, BBC Motion Gallery has brought together two partners: Thought Equity Motion, who will digitise content and license clips in the U.S.A., and North One Television, who will produce finished programming from the archive.

Paul Maidment, Director of Motion Gallery at BBC Worldwide commented on the deal, saying: "We're delighted to be working with The Football League and BBC Sport. Having Thought Equity Motion and North One Television on board were important factors in helping us agree what is a significant deal for the industry, and we hope to grow even more in the next few years with similar deals."

Richard Heaselgrave, The Football Chief Commercial Officer said: "Over the last sixty years, The Football League has delivered some of the most famous and iconic moments in sports broadcasting. Through this agreement, this history will live on and give broadcasters and advertisers the chance to share it with fans across the globe."

Police Warning For Plymouth Fans

The Police have issued a warning to Plymouth fans about travelling to Edgar Street without a ticket on Friday.

With their allocation of tickets long sold out, Acting Chief Inspector Martin Taylor, from the Police Command Team in Hereford, has told the Devon press “We realise that interest in this game is high and that it is very important to both clubs, but I would warn Plymouth fans they should not travel to Hereford without a valid match ticket.

“A police operation will be in place on the day to ensure the safety of everyone attending the game and this operation will also ensure that any away fans who do not have a valid match ticket will be turned away.

“It goes without saying that we simply cannot allow away fans to enter the home sections at Edgar Street and any attempting to do this can expect to be dealt with robustly.

“The aim of our policing operation to ensure genuine supporters from both sides can enjoy the game in safety without interference. It is very pleasing that there have been very few problems at Edgar Street this season and our aim is to ensure that Friday’s game is equally trouble free."

News Round-Up

The FA are investigating claims that Preston players leaked information about their tactics and team selection over whether there was any element of betting involved in the matter. Gillingham say their have identified a site on the edge of the town for a potential new stadium. The Mill Hill site could be developed seperately from the large scale development that they are currently trying to oppose.

Swindon loanee Jonathan Tehoue is unlikely to play again this season after becoming the latest player to fall out with boss Paolo Di Canio. The Leyton Orient striker is the third forward to be frozen out by the Italian after a bust up. Shrewsbury are to appeal the red card handed to midfielder Dave McAllister during Saturday's draw with Aldershot. The Sheff Utd loanee was dismissed for a claimed elbow on Shots midfielder Adam Mekki, and the three match ban would mean he would not play for the Shrews again before his loan expires.

Rochdale, Bury, and Oldham are to cross-promote their matches to each other's season ticket holders. The trio of Greater Manchester clubs will offer five matches for £5 each to ticket holders of the other clubs when they are not playing at home. Bookies say Paul Buckle is favourite to take over at Luton, with him an Even money favourite ahead of 4/1 shot Martin Allen. Current York boss Gary Mills is also reported to be in the frame.

News Round-Up

What with it being April Fools Day it's occasionally hard to sift the real and false stories. Plymouth claimed they were to build a new grandstand entirely out of wood as a commeration of the ship The Mayflower. Bury were to lift the entirety of their Gigg Lane home up and rotate it, while a variety of Rotherham sites claimed it was down to either Alex Ferguson or Andre Villas Boas to be their next manager.

In the real world, or Crawley at least, manager Steve Evans claims he had a defender ready to sign on Friday after their team was hit by the brawl suspensions. The free agent, Evans claims, had played in the Premier League last season but the FA refused permission as only an emergency keeper is now allowed to sign.

Wycombe have been hit with a transfer embargo after failing to supply their accounts on time. While the embargo will do little with the transfer window being closed it has seen two club directors, who were the Supporters Trust representatives, quit the board as their positions were 'untenable'. The club's owner says the accounts have been delayed due to the imminent sale of Wasps rugby side.

Luton have sacked manager Gary Brabin after their loss to York on Friday night. The Hatters are now three points outside the play-off spots after dropping 13 of the last 15 points. The ever-lovable Preston boss Graham Westley is reported to be on the verge of an early exit from Deepdale after he claimed to the press that four of his players had leaked team tactics and formation to rivals Sheff Weds before their 2-0 loss at Hillsborough. Westley has won just two of 15 games in charge of the club.

Reading Promotion Could Help Bulls

Reading are currently looking like promotion candidates to the Premiership and if they do rise to the top level of English football there is a chance that Hereford United might benefit.

This benefit stems from the sale of Mathieu Manset in 2011. However whilst the basic details were released by the club, there might be something in the the small print that would curtail any payment.

What is unclear is whether the promotion clause only covered last season or, perhaps more likely, the time Manset is with the club.

Below are the main details as published by BN

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Manset Transfer Details Revealed

Details of the transfer of Mathieu Manset to Reading were revealed at this evening's Hereford United AGM.

Whilst both Reading and Crystal Palace made offers for the striker, it was with the Waitrose sponsored club that serious negotations took place.

In the end Manset was sold for a downpayment of £200K, a further £100K depending on appearances, 50K for international appearances, 50K should Reading be promoted and a 15% sell on clause.

Chairman David Keyte was particular pleased with the sell on clause. Initially Reading had only offered 10%.

Six Matches Left for Bulls

Hereford United have just six matches remaining this season to prove they are good enough to avoid the drop to the Conference.

Manager Richard O'Kelly is hopeful it can be done.

"I think we've got to win a minimum of four of our remaining games," O'Kelly told the Sun.

"We can do it and showed last week we can put in a performance. It's in there but I think the players have to believe it."

List of Fixtures:

Friday April 6th: Plymouth - Home 3pm
Monday April 9th: Accrington - Away 3pm
Friday April 13th: Barnet - Away 7.45pm
Saturday April 21st: Northampton - Home 3pm
Saturday April 28th: Crawley Town - Away 3pm
Saturday May 5th: Torquay Home - 3pm

Please note HUISA are running coaches to the three away games and for the Accrington and Barnet games the club are covering the cost of travel.

Whilst the game at Accrington is on Easter Monday, the decision to hold the Barnet game on the Friday evening may stop some supporters being able to travel especially given coaches are expected to leave Edgar Street around 2pm.
